Just because it's an 04, doesn't mean its a used car, lol. I would ask for more off. Invoice would be good. Talk about how they are stuck with 04 stock and they should really move them.
Its not a used car but its a car that is ONE year old already and with 05 coming out and in a couple months (maybe more tyhan a couple) 06 will be strolling in. Dealers act like theres a LOOONG line of people waitin to buy these cars. I went in with my buddy to check payments on an 04 w/ 5grand down. We wanted to be under $400 a month they said NO WAY impossible...we walked...3 days later they called back sayin "how easy they could do under $400 all of a sudden", if you walk sometimes they will call you back. I got quoted about 31k for an 05 no SSL package so I dont know, I think they can go lower seeing thats an 04 and they are basically chargin you for an 05. Im buyin mine from CarMax, I seen it available for an awesome price. $25,998 for an 03 with only 7k and sunroof! I work there as well so I might even get a discount, woot!

hey man, do yourself a favor before negotiating (or negotiating further) and go to one of those sites to build the car and check invoice pricing. Or if you got a Barnes&Noble check it out in a car buying guide.
It'll tell you exactly what the base price is without markup and how much options really costs.
On that car invoice should be something like $28k? Don't quote me.
Factor in its been on the lot now and already a year old.
Good luck. If you can be firm and use the walk away theory, you might get a good deal!

Thanks everyone for your advice. So you think that even with the SSL, 30,500 is too high? I know at least on 2005's that invoice with the SSL is 32,250. Was there a price change from 04 to 05 ?
Simple, go in when you are ready to buy and TELL the sales manager what you will pay OTD for that car. 30.5k is a f___ing good deal but im sure that is not OTD. Even if you bought an '05 it would be just as used as an '04 when you drive it off the lot so get the '04 for a few g's less. If you can get that car for 30.5 OTD you would be insane not to do it. Buying it at invoice plus tax and license is a great deal. Just know your price before you start and don't budge or waste time, tell them to take it or leave it.....good luck and you'll love the car no matter what you pay!
It's not what the car invoiced for originally that you should be worried about. The fact that you are missing out on the front LSD, ACD, and larger turbo but paying basically the same price is not ok. You could get an 05 RS for less than what they are offering to sell that one for. Mention that that stuff is a big deal, if they want to get rid of the 04 they are going to have to charge less than the cheapest 05.
yah buy it they arent going to drop the SSL package as much to make a difference in the long run. It depends wether you are willing to wait out the game for a few hundred bucks yada yada.....in that time you could be enjoying your new car. Just my opinion. Just what NAICHE said youll love it no matter what you pay.
