EVO VIII w/ $7k in mods gets owned by cobra with $1k from a stop
The Evo guy in that race had a mod list that consisted mainly of "maintenance items", with a very minimal mods. He was fooling if he though he was going to even beat a bone stock Cobra, much less one with the typicsl bolt-ons.
Although I feel the Cobra has much more straight-line performance potential than an Evo, an Evo with an actual $7K in performance mods would have stomped a mudhole in that particular Cobra.
Big whoop. the Cobra won (as it should). Thanks for yet another anti-Evo propoganda thread started by the resident Anti-Evo guy here on Evom.

I'm sure even monkeys could drive in a straight line if given proper motivation, seriously this country places WAY to much on the quarter mile (NOPI) and "goin' 'round that der oval track' (NASCAR) ... I've been to Nascar events, it was horribly boring until someone crashed. I believe the American public would take to WRC IF they were more exposed to it. It's very niche right now, to watch WRC on TV you need Speed channel, which for me is on digital cable PLUS a tier that costs an additional fee versus Nascar which is broadcast over the air in digital / analog for free to homes.

pFABRICATION.com of ****ty videos. Who the **** cares? Cobras were meant for straight line, and if you spend 40 grand on a car that was meant for straight line, you should own any car in the straight line. Lets see a video with a Cobra with 10,000 dollars in mods go around a track with an evo with 0 mods.
[B ( Quote) Will we EVER see any nice vids of EVO's SMOKING other cars ??? It seems that a lot of people bring Vids from other sites to show how slow the evo is vs other drag cars. Last time i checked this is www.EVOLUTIONM.net post up some vids of EVO's Destroying other cars PLEASE.[/B]
This is a pretty impressive evo taking down a very nice mustang both heavily modded. http://www.svtperformance.com/forums...d.php?t=160864 The vid is about half way down the page.

Simply over matched. That Evo should only race Cobras to 30mph not a hundred, especially with those mods. I wonder what the co-pilot of the Cobra drives?(he was pretty lippy)

what Ookami said is exactly what i was talking about in my previous post. yea it's obvious that evo wasn't made for straight line only performance, and what annoys me is that it constantly gets compared on that level. i mean, ****, the fact that it has 0-60 and 1/4 times that are better than the last generation of f-bodies and stang GT is impressive, but that's not even where the car shines.
but it seems that everyone is mostly concerned about 1/4 time and bragging about beating other cars in straight line. given, drag racing can be fun and it's not difficult to get pretty good at. where as, it's not simple to find a place to race someone on the curves outside of a race track (more dangerous too) and it's still cheaper to pay for a 1/4 run at a track.
i have a feeling though, that in japan and europe, car enthusiasts compare their cars in a very different way. so the convo would go something like this "duuude i can like, brake 20' later for corner #40 on the <name> mountain pass!!" as opposed to convo in USA: "duuuude i can like go .5 secs faster in the 1/4!"
ppl who don't know about evo wonder what it can do, unfortunately, since all they know is 1/4mi, i pretty much tell them the numbers for that and then give a general "and it handles like a porsche" statement.
i think for as long as ppl (including many evom members) put much emphasis on the straight line numbers when talking about evo, others will keep comparing it to muscle cars. so what i'm saying essentially is: stop talking about your 1/4 runs!!! (yea rite, like that's gonna happen lol
