What are people prepared to pay for EVO??
What are people prepared to pay for EVO??
After talking to local dealer, it appears that the EVO VIII will be selling for $5,000 dollars OVER sticker...
Anyone paying less than that for sure for first allocation cars??
Please answer poll..it will be interesting to see the market differences across the nation...

I have one at MSRP which I think is flaky and is gonna screw me. I have another deposit on one with a $1,000 markup. Still trying to find a dealer in NYC that is charging MSRP. Any help would be appreciated.

I called pretty much every Mitsu dealer around and all were stating 5k markup (with one exception being a rather small dealer who didn't even think they had any allocated). What's funny is almost all the dealers already had their spots filled up (at 5k over!!!). Went to dealer east of Seattle in Bellevue and they claimed 5k markup as well. He seemed to really want to sell me this car but I pretty much told him what he could do with his 5k markup. He told me 4 out their 5 allocations already had the deposit down then proceeded to ask me how much I would be willing to spend. I told him since I was feeling generous, I'd pay 1K over tops. He gave me a skeptical look and shook his head and said sorry, but took down my phone number. About 15 minutes later, got a call on my cell and he had talked it over to his sales manager and they okayed it so I went back and gave them their 2k deposit for agreed 1k markup, got all the paperwork signed by the manager and that's it thus far. I'm not too fond of paying anything over msrp, but yes, my impatience got the best of me so 1k over for me, but better than all those paying 5k in all the Western Washington dealers (including my own) that I checked. Um, sorry, I seem to have drug on a bit...
Paying MSRP here as well.
It just so happens that I grew up with the president of the dealership though. Is that cheating?

I have found a couple of dealers to sell at MSRP but I voted for the $0-$999 because I know these dealers will add the so called protection package (can of ScothGard and some Turtle wax). I will not pay ove $400 for that crap though as long as it includes window tint.
I've said it before, but I'll say it again.
If you pay much over MSRP for this car....
There are several dealers in the Midwest with cars available from the first allocation pool who guarantee MSRP.
My local dealer has a silver/sunroof/high spoiler available from the first allocation and they guarantee MSRP.
Paying maybe $500 over wouldn't kill you... but when you can buy a $100 plane ticket, fly to the midwest, and take a one or two day drive back home in your new Evo...
And even if you ignore the first round of allocations... the number of midwest dealers with second allocations available is astounding.
My advice to anyone getting screwed by their dealer - do your homework and check around. Have patience... one extra month with this car isn't worth a few grand... that's money you could spend in the aftermarket to get your car to be an STi killer!
