how much power can i expect with these mods?
I have 2004 evo 8 and i was considering doing asome mods to my car. What horsepower increase should I see if I install these mods listed below:
1) helix 3" downpipe
2) Helix high flow cat
3) helix 3" catback exhaust or greddy titanium catback
4) buschur mini filter (just filter not hardpipe)
5) run boost at 19 psi
6) walboro fuel pump
7) some type of ecu relash (either dynoflash or maybe vishnu tune)
I was looking to make 340 crank hp safely without using cams. I don't go to the racetrack but I have a heavy foot I want a car with some *****. I have 5000 miles on the car and It hasn't been launched once! Im not a fan of cams because I live in NYC and they are strict with the emmission stuff plus they seem to cause oil consumption on some cars. If anybody has a good estimate with a breakdown of each item I would greatly appreciate it. The reason im shooting for 340 bhp because the clutch is 2200 lb unit (best info I could find) it should be able to handle 340 safely and about 380 maximum. I used to have a DSM so that was the normal limits of safety on like ACT 2100 clutch.

with all those mods, u ll be able to reach your goal of 340 crank hp quiet easly. but one day or another u ll need a new clutch, for your setup a act street disc will be plenty enuff.
everycar on this forum reacts to mods with different hp numbers, but id suggest since u have a 2004, a 20g turbo upgrade (from buscher). a ecutek flash to go with it (no need for a mbc), and a catback exhaust and have all that horsepower that you want and still have warranty on your car,,, but i will stil answer your question and with those mods you should get about 320whp (with a conservative flash and 91 octaine)
1.Turboback exhaust w/ cat = about 15 HP plus quicker turbo spool
2. Air filter= a loss in HP/TQ until reflash, then maybe 4-6 peak HP
3.Reflash= Best mod on your list... about 25-30 peak HP and boost will not taper to 15 after 3 seconds of WOT, holds about 19 to redline. (Dynoflash worked for me.. I highly recommend going with them)
4.Fuel pump= safety mod, wont gain you any HP but you wont run lean under high boost or hit fuel cut.
5. as for running boost at 19 psi, you should already be running that, if not you have a leak somewhere.
6. may I also recommend getting a Hallman or other manual boost controller as a Turboback exhaust will cause boost to momentarily spike at about 21-22 psi
