boost problem/clutch?... HELP

ok well my buds evo has been acting up. now it wont liek boost right. he says and has showed me .. hell get o it and from like 3k-4200 it will like not boost at 19/20 it will go to like 12 but like it makes his tach/revs go up really high and when he drives off and does it, it sounds wierd. but after 4200 it like catches again and takes off a boosts. so basically it starts to boost then it like almost like a leak and then after awhile it cathes and tthen it goes. do you think its a boost leak? we tried swapping out BOVs to see if maybe he blew the diaphram but thats not it. so tomarrow we are gonna check all piping for leaks... is there anythin else that it could be? cuase its just wierd taht the rpms shoot up or should it do that in a leak? my one friend who owns a DSM said maybe something with the trans? like the viscous coupler doing it? but we are gonna test boost... how should to get to the lower IC piping? is it all accessable via taking off the splash guard or will we need to take the bumper off? thanks hope some ppl can help. if someones had this problem please help if you fixed it. thanks
ryan

It is the clutch. Same thing happened to me. Time for a new clutch. Oh, ya. Car was bone stock with 3k miles on it. Mitsu refused to honor the warranty.

I wouldnt mess around and get a cheap clutch, you buy a clutch to replace and forget about it, and hope you wont have to replace it again. It comes with everything you need when you buy the kit, unless he warped the flywheel.

uh, yeah. your clutch isn't warratied, so they aren't not honoring anything. does it make sense to you to warranty a clutch? i guess they should warranty brake pads too.

replace it with a good clutch and be done with it.

and some dealers aren't that bad, mine offered to do it for CHEAP labor when mine goes. and he said putting an aftermarket clutch in there will not do anything to my warranty as far as he is concerned. he said he'll do warranty work to anything that breaks and falls under warranty, no matter what is done to the car.

just shop around for a good service manager.
