How stable is a wingless Evo above 100 mph?
Have any of you driven both a regular Evo and an Evo with no wing? Is there a speed at which you wouldn't feel comfortable in a wingless Evo? Does the back end ever get shaky?
My RS is very stable at any legal speed on US roads as well as at autoX events.
I'm amazed at it's manners in the 90-100 mph range. I feel that the wing simply isn't needed if you stay below that threshold. I'm not comfortable in taking my car beyond that in track conditions without adding some serious safety equipment.
EDIT: Perhaps Richard Evo could chime in. Apparently he's spent quite a bit of time at the track with his wingless RS, along with testing upgraded suspension setups.

I have brought mine up to about 105 for an extended amount of time both with an without spoiler. Always on the highway, which are relatively straight...I really haven't noticed too much of a difference.

How hard is it actually to remove the wing and add it back? I'd be interested to see how it feels without it compared to with it. Is that tape that holds it onto the truck a pain in the *** to remove it and apply it back on?

Here's the old thread about it.

I've had my wingless EVO above 140 with and without wing on the hwy and as stated, no noticeable difference. Course, I wasn't trying to turn or anything, heh.
As for removing it, there are a few bolts you can unscrew, then it's a matter of heating it up, or you can just rip it off like I did before selling it. I was not careful at all, and I tweaked the trunk slightly. To show how much I care, I just covered the holes with tape. I think it would be a pita to try and put it back on, the tape is annoying.

I raced my wingless (carbon trunk) EVO last weekend, no difference to report other than the "man it looks like a Lancer ES". This was the first race of the season after having raced all last season with the wing on the stock steel trunk. Max speed at our track is 125; 66 mph average.
