I don't think that's how it works, you pay the deductible and the insurance company gets the carcass, so they can try to get some value out of it. They may let you try and buy the remains of the car but it won't be $500, that's for sure.

tureno- i babied my car, but i was also trying to baby my bank account and keep in mind, they aren't the CHEAPEST tires, they just didn't hold as well as our yokohama's. the "crappy" tires were still ZR rated, AA traction rating, and i still spent + $700 on them. i just didn't want to drop $1200 on the stock tires that would only last me 7k miles.

nsnguyen- you're right, unfortunately i'm going to have to pay to buy the car back ON TOP OF the deductible. NO GAP INSURANCE!! i still have yet to hear what the insurance company wants me to pay to buy the car back. that's why i'm trying to figure out if it's even going to be worth it.

What you went through I wouldnt wish on anybody. Glad you are ok though. Now you could hold off and get a IX if you can wait that long. If you decide to part it out there is a few things I'm interested in. Headlights and long dash piece that goes over radio. Let me know. Sorry again for the loss. Keep everyone posted on what happens. Thanks.

Thumbs up Let the bidding begin!

I just got the call from my insurance company and got the final buy back from them and let me tell you, they obviously think this thing is worth something, even totalled. So here is the deal:

The insurance company wants $8,200 to buy this back. They said they could part it out for a whole lot more, so this was what they were willing to take . Add in my $500 deductible for a total of $8,700.

I will be taking 1 (one) offer from all interested parties for the next 48 hours and the highest offer takes it. I don't want to turn this into an Ebay so I figure the classy thing to do is a one bid silent auction.

The winning bidder will have 48 hours to make payment and transportation arrangements. It shouldn't take me more than a couple of day to get the release from the insurance company and salvage title. PLEASE NOTE - I must receive the payment from the winning bidder before I can get the release! Sorry but I don't have an extra $8,000. Before payment is sent, and for the protection of the winning bidder I will have an automotive bill of sale contract drafted and signed (and notarized if you would like).

Thanks so much everyone and happy bidding!
