I just stop by the dealership and get a filter. It's usually around $6 to $9 bucks.

i use a k&N HP-1010... change my oil every 4K miles

to my knowledge... Honda K series and b series filters will also work..

wouldn't use them though.. i don't know the pressure rating...

OEM, you need a certain oil pressure.

Seems to be longer and a tad more skinny. Fit up fine and tightened fine.
The filter is a Prolator.... got it at walmart =/ looked in the book and all and to the best of my knowledge it is the right part. Should i be concerned?

OEM.. I get mine at http://mitsupartsdirect.com/ If you order more than 3 you get a discount.. I think I pay like 5-7 with washers.

I just bought a couple of Mitsu filters from the dealer. The guy wanted to look up the part by my VIN. I'm like WTF? and he says they show two filters and said something about one bein a little skinnier but maybe longer than the other. That could explain what you are seeing.

BTW, all filters are not created equal. I have seen all kinds of filter tests and there are huge differences in filters. for instance, FRAM are not all that and the Mobil 1 and K&N are above average but not always the best. Prove it to yourself and buy a couple of filters and cut them up.

Good luck.

yea it's wrong to make fun of you. but seriously, you gotta use the OEM or K&N cuz they can handle the PSIs that turbo engines put on their oil... anything less than OEM spec will cause damage. If you look in your manual, you'll see some specs on what the oil filter should be able to handle. Make sure anything you buy, whether from wal-mart or elsewhere, meets those specs.

Good luck!

UR A DUMBASS !!! EVO JOE UR RIGHT UP THERE TOO!!! Walmart is a store that means they carry wtf sells. go into autozone..... andvanced..... pepboys..... all those Purolator is sold at all of them. whys it make a diff if i got the filter at wallyworld or a car parts store.

BTW my WALMART (purolator) filter and my WALMART (penzoil) oil both work fine in my car ...... PERFECT fit on the filter no leaks no nothing. i just might go to walmart again. if its ok with you.

just curious but where do you get your parts at ? and btw just because its OEM does not mean its the best for your car. For example why do folks on the forums change out thier gear oil aswell as Diff oil ? and they dont put in OEM....... the BoV on 03 - 04 evos we all know thats the best for the car to right ?!?!?!

Thanks for thoes who helped me and ***** those who are hating on walmart get a life.

The correct purolator filter is a L14459. (PL14459 for the PureOne Filter) The filter you got is for the standard lancer.

Hope you guys know to make sure the car is level when draining the oil and also
when checking the level. The oil cooler for the turbo shares the same oil and it requires the car to be level to drain properly and fill correctly. If you are using
ramps just on the front you won't get it all out.
