anyone else notice how large of a gap there is above the front wheels and there is hardly any above the rear?

That's because the front of the car dives down MUCH more during braking then the rear does during acceleration. You need that room for the tires to come up into the wheel wells because of the suspension travel.

I think the centerpiece is just fine. Although it shouldn't be too tough to cut it out and smooth over if you want the plain open front. I'm sure there will be US EVO body kits out before long to give you the EVO V big foglight look or the EVO VII open grill. All in pure carbon fiber of course.

Man Kazaa just flat kills my bandwidth on the broadband connection. I like it better with the in the grill, but I still think the factory design is OK too. Like someone else said. It's still way better than the standard Lancer grill...

Frankly the new Evo VIII looks like a new Accord with a sad body kit..the Evo VII's lines were sharper and more original, i say screw the 8 and import a 7 for a couple thou more!

It looks ok with the factory centerpiece. How else would someone know what was coming at them?

It wouldn't be a good idea to have that open area as crap would fly in. You'd have to grill it like the intercooler. Yeah remember that nice expensive intercooler is out in front there waiting for some idiot in an SUV to crunch while they are backing up.

Thanks GlobeCLK. Now that looks nice. Guess I'll be taking a hacksaw to my Evo when I get it.

There is a mesh grill behind the centerpiece. I didn't like the center before, but having now seen it in person it looks sharp. If I ever did cut mine out, I'd want a there to fill up some of the space. I think the chops with the emblem are much nicer than the big black hole.
