the RS doesn't have abs so that would contribute to its longer braking distance. Haha i find it funny that they didn't test the 'faster' newer 05s and it still ran a 13.2. not that the 05 would have been much faster

A lot of people have no idea what an Evo is. They think it looks like an accord with a bodykit and wing. Needless to say, people are ignorant, and enjoy being that way. That is why the Mustang GT is rated that high. Everyone and his brother has a Mustang, and there is a reason why: Ford capitalizes on the name and image. A GT isn't comparable to an Evo, but it's in there anyway. SRT-4 was placed last?! That should tip you off to something. It is an undisputed bang for the buck 1/4 mile performer. It can even be an Auto X/ road course champion, if the ACR edition lives up to it's name.

Here's the reason:

"Hey, this RS is committed... It may even be too serious for most buyers. "

They're writing the article for and as Average Joes... Your average american still gets a boner for the Mustang, regardless of performance.

Summary: When it comes to "cool" most American's would rather be Steve McQueen than Paul Walker

Heck - I just got done reading that article.

It was good for a chuckle here & there; in general, like others who have said earlier, the entire article was mostly just a journalistic (i.e. one writer's) attempt to determine which car is *cooler*......no more, no less.

Hey...the majority of people in America will tell you/us that the new 'Stang has higher cool points than our EVO...and you know what? I'll take that as a compliment...thank you!

Why you might ask? It's almost the same reaction when someone compares the Evo to a 350Z....drivers who don't know what the Evo feels like will almost always say the 350Z has sleeker lines....but most of us know the driving experience is another story altogether!

So the 350Z may very well be a nicer looking ride for others (but not me ) but guess which one handles better?

And I can imagine the Mini Cooper owners fuming over how their car wasn't picked for this *coolnest* test....!

I consider the Evo to be on par with words like....hardcore, no-compromise, in-your-face etc.

Ask at random any ten people on the streets and they'll mostly tell you - just based on looks alone - they would pick the "Stang over the Evo.

So what does it all mean?
It means that the new Mustang is more cosumer driven based on its looks, but the Evo is designed and marketed for a select few that can only appreciate fully what it's all about. It's a "select" few, folks.

Let's allow the moral majority to have their retro, SOHC V8 low-tech coolness.

Leave the hard-core select few to cherish something that only a small select group understands and appreciates: the EVO owners

The moral of this? "Cool" is only cool if it's a small, select group, and NOT if it's meant for the general, majority of the public

I think we've already been through this. Reminds me of this thread:

I like the original ness of the evo now. The only way to have that in a stang is to timeflash back to 67' and all drive fastbacks. Now they are just way to played out. I love how you will never see a grandma driving a evo vs a stang which i see everyday.

Another great point. At least 1/2 of the newer mustangs and 350z's (especially convertibles) I see are driven by women who seem to just want to look hip and sporty... those cars are definitely "image first"... to a lesser extent boxsters and even s2000s.

Isn't that article kind of old. Also it's not a direct comparison test, it just lists the five great bang for your buck vehicles in no particular order. As far as pure performance numbers the EVO has no equal under $30,000.

only thing i find funnier than your trolling remarks is your lack of taste in hip hop.

honestly though, i'm surprised the WRX didn't make it on there....
