Sport Compact Car....March 2003
We have to wait till next month to get a test of the evo8... They say it should be called an evo7.5 not the 8, because it is basically the same car as the 7. They said the seats are made wider and sofer, but they are still recaros and still not wide. Hope they are bigger than the wrx seats!!!!!!!!
They tested the evo 7 out last year and got 5.2 to 60 and 13.5 @ 103......72.6 mph slalom,,,,, and stoped from 60 in 107 feet... and also made 247 at the wheels.
This looks like we are getting a pretty damn hott car,,,, i just would love to get in those seats and see if they are going to work for me!!!!!!!!

I believe the more important part of the new SCC is in the 10 car shootout section. Not only did Road Race open there doors to a competitor, I believe I see Robs helmet in the Eclipse going around the road course. Isnt this true Rob??? If so, nice job on driving a 1/4 mile queen to a strong finish around Fontana. The news on the Evo is also cool though.
Doesnt it feel like family when you see Road Races name in print in a magazine? LOL.

Oh, and I don't think that they're saying that it will be called an evo 7.5, but that it should. If you look at the other Evolutions, there is usually a broad sweeping change in either production method, styling, or performance technology that is uses. Less between the V than with the VI, it seems, than others, but, on average, I'd say that the changes in the Evo VIII are barely enough to qualify it for a new "evolutionary stage."
