I have my '03 EVO at the dealer right now with 33500 miles on it. I have a warn spot on the side of the seat part, on the side portion (suede) 6 inches from the where the back. Also I have a little 1/2" tear in the back of the seat on the side bolster about 6" up from the seat part. Both spots look like they just wore thru.

Has anyone else have similar problem with the driver seat.

 

never happend to me yet because i have only 8k miles.
i've seen some post regarding this. How tall are you and what's your weight?

 

I bought my Evo 2 mos ago with 13k miles on it. (From a Mitsu dealer)
The seat fabric was worn and seperating on the side bolster facing the door.
They bolted on a whole new top half of the seat under warranty.. no questions
asked. (did take 6 weeks or so for the seat to show up though, they are on national back order)

 

i've gotta drivers seat that i'm only using for gran turismo 4... if ya want.... make me an offer.. =)

 

saw the same thing on a used evo at carmax. doesnt look like the suede on these cars hold up very well.. seems like you've got an excuse to get them wrapped in leather now

 

I got flamed for saying this on another thread a while back but.......I got seat covers. After 10,000 miles there were a couple of very small spots.

 

LOL, ^^ checking to see if it was caused by "fat a$s, little seat"??!?!?!?

I am 6' and weigh 220. I would say that the wear might be worse than normal due to the fact that I autocross.

I won't get an answer until later today on if the dealer is gonna swap it out or not...

 

I got denied warranty on mine... $1500+ just for the lower seat cushion.

 

when the evo came out, i priced out the seats alone for my dsm....

don't feel bad, on just the lower seat cousion even cost is $1300.. craziness

I blame the "fat guy, little seat" theory, which i find really ironic, because if i recall, the USDM evo8 recieved wider seats for our fat a$$es.

 

My dealer sent off pics to Mitsu to see if they would replace the seats.

I guess I just have to wait......

oh yeah...mine is flared out on the side bolster. i'm thinking it is b/c my size 6'1" 235lb.

 

you could probably order the fabric from recaro, and have your seat redone at a outside shop or just tell the shop to order the fabric. i was give a quote of about $100 to change the suede on the drivers bottom left side (if that made sense). and this was from a very well know shop.
