Thinking of dewinging my evo (temporarily)?

Well, I've been pulled over twice already, first time, I was speeding, but with the flow of traffic, and this last time I was supposidly "gunned" at a certain speed, but I know for a fact that it was impossible for me to be going that fast. I have a certain feeling that it has to do with the looks of the car. I don't have tinted windows, but the daunting FMIC and wing tips off most cops, imo. I'm thinking of maybe buying a RS trunk and just swapping for every-day driving and putting the wing back on for those occasions where a wing wouldn't be so horrible to have. Anyone else doing this or find that it makes a difference? btw, don't flame this thread with posts like "don't speed" or whatever. I'm a sensible driver and I may not always follow the speed limit, but I rarely exceed the pace of traffic and I'm more often found in the middle/right lanes than in the passing lanes. As most people on this board like to say, I'd prefer to leave that for the track.

you can take off the wing but you'll have to fill the holes! a rs trunk would probably cost you an arm and a leg! i would recomend a carbon fiber trunk or possibly see if a rs ower wants a wing and trade them lids.

Isnt taking the wing off kind of like pulling the wings off a fly?

My thoughts exactly. I know my car looks like a racecar -- heh it is one Either way, I love the look of my car and would hate to change it because the po-po are driving me nuts. One of the first purchases for my car was the valentine -- it's SOOOOO worth the money. It's nice to know there is a threat coming without having to see it first

The car should be noticeably quicker without it. Notice any difference?

if this really is the case, you shouldnt be driving an evo... negative attention comes with the territory yo... just buy a radar, it will pay for itself with even ONE prevention of a ticket.

If any of you guys have a black wing, shoot me a PM me. I have the RA spoiler (non middle pillar and it's alil taller than the o2-o3 oz spoiler) that I would trade plus cash for a evo8 spoiler.

Before my wing was stolen, I was pulled over twice and given a ticket once. I was also raced by every ricer in the Northern Illinois area. This was all in a three month period. Almost a year later, I barely ever get revved at, and have since not been pulled over (knock on wood). I have a Passport 8500 radar detector, and must say it has been great if you want to get alerted to cops about a few hundred yards away. This is usually to late for precautionary measures.

Getting the trunk put on with painting and everthing else was between $500-$600. Getting the holes filled and painted was also around $450.

It will get you less negative attention, but you lose a lot of the personality.
