If you had paid over $8000 and never made a claim and they dropped you for no real reason, I would talk to a lawyer and see if you can at least get the money back that you paid into Geico. I know if you constantly made claims, that they can drop you, but not just dropping you and not getting something in return.

386 is not as bad as you think. He lives in NEW YORK. Where you live plays a huge factor in pricing. I noticed in sig your from Virgina. You can't compare insurance like that.

As far as GEICO droppin the Evo...thats just cause they SUCK.

That's not the way insurance works. Everyone pays in premiums, and the few people that have claims get covered by the premiums paid in by everyone, and the insurance company profits where total premiums exceed claims plus operating expenses.

You subsidized the people who had claims. That was part of your contract with the insurance company. Any lawyer will look at you like you are crazy, and tell you the same thing.

recked a car, got many tickets/speeding with all state and they never droped me!
switched to liberty mutual thoght!
you guys should look into insuring your house/ apartment to lower your rates.
back in the day i insured a $500 civic that i never drove just to lower my rates by $1500 a year. i figure i save $1000 for having a **** car i drove in the winter. by the way my other car was a 01gsr with every accessory acura listed.
there are always to beat the system.
personally i would sue them. that is descrimination. are they droping all evo's and sti's while keeping camero, mustang and others for billy joe and bush?

I have Progressive, I use to have GEICO though for my 04 ES. I rechecked with GEICO online and they said only $606 for six months, then I called and it changed to $800, and finally went into their office and it was $1400. Sadly I have an at-fault accident on my driving record so I'm pretty much screwed until it comes off.

That's part of the reason I had to go ES instead of Evo, my insurance would have been insane expensive. Insurance is a scam. First of all, women automatically get lower rates because supposably they're "safer drivers". Then they base it on a statistic, so if you have a perfect driving record they base your rate on all men your age. It's like "I don't want to pay more based on some other *******. I want insurance based on my record." Then something happens...speeding, accident, whatever, and then they will base it on your record.

I recieved notice that my insurance rate is going up slightly on my next renewal from State Farm. The reason is because of the claims history for this vehicle. Oh well.

I know how insurance works. I sell it (not auto). I also know that a company can't drop you without a reason. Telling him that his car is too much of a risk is bull when he has never gotten a ticket or made a claim. He already insured his car there for at least 2 years as well as other cars. The company has to give a reason for dropping coverage (ie: tickets, claims). It is worth a shot to check into it.

Just a word about my expereinces with Allstate. You are allowed one collision claim after 8 years with no increase in premium. How do I know? I had an 11k claim last Summer and my rates did not increase but was told they would double if I had another claim within the next 8 years. . FWIW I have been with them for 30yrs, have three vehicles, a house and other insurances with the same broker and receive numerous discounts or I would not have an Evo.

Geico cherry picks, there have been several threads concerning thier policies. The fact that low rates are only profitable with low risk is not difficult to understand.

hey propellerhead, i totally feel your pain, geico can go to hell. I drive a 02 lancer es, and back in december i got side swiped by a fed ex truck when he switched lanes without looking and ran me off the road. the ******* was on the his cell phone the whole time. When the cop came, he gave me the ticket, and now fedex is claiming dameges on their truck when all the damage was done to mycar, approx. $3500 worth. The ****y part is that geico only gave me $800, that was it and I had to pay for the rest. On top of that I ended up with a bad back, by which I am going to a chiropractor, 3 times a week. I fought the ticket in court, and won. Now i have to find a lawyer to fight with FedEx, as well as Geico for not providing me with any sort of back up. What the hell!!! 800 bucks!!!

anyways, I'm just venting over here. But Geico can lick my *****. I am switching to state farm, and getting an Evo, so i'm trying not to stress it much. Good luck fighting with those *******s!
