Seriously sluggish shifting

ok let me try to explain this. i was driving on the expressway last night, and when i exited and got to the first light, i felt like i had to put 300% more effort to get out of fifth and to downshift, the i noticed it was happening with all the gears.

they do not grind but all of the sudden it takes a lot more effort to go through all the gears, it feels like there is something in the way of all the gears and i am trying to push through it. they go in smooth, with no grind but like in slow motion.

any ideas, or has this happened to anybody?

Yea, I would check the shifter cables to make sure they arent binding or rubbing anything.

good call on the shifter bushings, i guess all the salt from the winter got to them, sprayed them down with wd-40 and car is back to normal. going to remove them later on to clean them good.

just to clear up it was the engine bay shifter bushings.

anybody know if there was grease on those originaly or if that would be better than wd-40?
