When to change Ferrodo brake pads?
I have Ferodo DS2500 brake pads. Anyone who has had these brake pads can testify that they are awesome and can be loud. I love them, but was wondering when I should change them? I guess if they still feel good under braking and my stock rotors aren't warped. But any suggestions from those who've used them? How long have they lasted you. I'd say mine have been on for less than 8k miles.
I use these solely for track duty & they last for about 12 road-course track days. Out of the box the pads are 3/8" thick & I change them when there's 1/8" of pad left.
If you're using them for street duty, you shouldn't have any problem with rotor warp since you aren't exposing the pads or rotors to sustained, extreme heat(like at the track). Without heating them up these pads will provide minimal braking capacity - get them good & hot and they'll bite hard & fast without any fade- add stainless steel lines & you'll eliminate a spongy response.
