I find nothing offensive in the brochure. I thought it was somewhat funny... "no it's not a foreman grill" was pretty good. You normally don't find goofy stuff like that in a car brochure, but it is certainly not offensive.

so I agree... GTR has lost his mind.

OH, yes I'm going WAY overboard and lost my mind because i've explained how my reasoning was misinterperted.

Sorry for sharing my thoughts on the brochure, I just thought it was immature and rude. Do you guys have to Flame everytime I have an opinion?

I'm not asking for techical details just professionalism in an offical brochure. I also want to comment on the qoute "the lancer evolution viii isn't for everybody". That comment was just plain rude and arrogant. I feel they forgot there is an equally impressive car around the corner. Am I the only one who finds this brochure very offensive and vulgar
I am not missing your point. I really like the brochure, I found it to be pretty entertaining. It is designed to appeal to all ages, but still appeal to the lowest common demoninator, that being the teens (and preteens) who are very excited about it. But there is enough technical info to let people realize it is a serious automobile. And it is true the EVO isn't for everybody, plain and simple. It is very up front, blunt and honest for Mitsubishi to say that. They want no false pretenses about their new car.

OH, yes I'm going WAY overboard and lost my mind because i've explained how my reasoning was misinterperted. Do you guys have to Flame everytime I have an opinion?
Man, just relax and have a bran muffin or something. Nobody is flaming you. Being unhappy about the car is one thing, but to get so uptight about a free brochure is lame.

GTR , we all know deep down u want an Evo, but still are very hurt about some figures that may mean **** when it comes down to real driving. A brochure should not put you off from a Product. i mean so what if it "offended" you, offending people is a marketing tactic. Most on here seem to just overlook the bit of arrogance that it might have portrayed. I think the brochure doesn't matter in the end...you want the car or the brochure??

Hey, don't accuse me of flaming. You asked the question, I posted an answer. If you don't want to know, don't ask.

Overall I liked the brochure and I'm as excited as ever to be getting my car. To be certain, every time I read their little slick remarks I rolled my eyes quite extrememly and gave a little derogatory chuckle, but I realized that it is true that their targets are all the people who don't spend heavy amounts of time on the internet discussing this car. Most of us here are already sold, now time to bring in the rest of the sheep.

As a side note, personally I quite liked the fact that they stated that this car is not for everyone, because, quite frankly, it's not and it's an honest (suprisingly so) thing for them to say.

Actually. Yes we are all after you. Its a big conspiracy. ^_^. HEhe. nah. but i actually enjoy the way they wrote it. It had a kind of smack to it trying to give the feeling if you aren't serious, about this. Get the hell out. And if this can scare someone enough to not buy the car than good, they shouldn't be driving it in the first place. Don't let a piece of paper get in your way of this machine. Food for thought.

I never said the brochure is going to steer me away from the car. THat's ridculous. I'm just saying the brochure sucks for the way it was written. I've gave my reason and that is that.

I have never dog anyone opinion? By saying somone is an idoit for thinking the brochure is amusing or i'm an idoit for thinking the brochre is unprofessional is silly. I respect everyone's opinion and would like the same for mine.

Perhaps ppl have a short fuse when the gtr replies since i'm notorious for flaming mitsubishi on ACD,LSD? I've already accepted the fact and I'm giving the rs evo6 drivetrain a try. All i have to say is that i can't really complain until I drive both cars and then decide which is better.

One doesn't need to be 17 to be immature. A few months ago I had a group of four middle-aged men in business suits come in for the soul purpose of killing their lunch-hour by thrashing a new Altima 3.5SE as hard as they could for fun.

I let all four of them walk back to the store.

Anyone who wants to drive a Z or Evo, or any car with a high "joyride factor" at my store, and 99% of the other stores out there simply needs to qualify as a serious buyer before we are going to take that kind of liability. Each store will handle it differently - at my store it means a full right up and a credit ap. Another store may want to see some cash first as a sign of intent, maybe along with the other paperwork, making the deal contingent upon a satisfactory test drive. Whatever works.

As an employee of the store I can't even drive the things because of the insurance liability.

YOU, on the other hand CAN TEST DRIVE THE FRIGGING CAR for chrissakes! . If you drive it and don't like it, take your f---ing deposit back. It's not like a simple test drive is going to cost you the nickel.

What's the problem?

Jeez, I can't believe you don't get this. The deposit is a show of good faith. Money talks. It shows you are actually there to be serious, not jerk someone off for your own pleasure.

BTW

Some of my best customers are those 17 year-olds, kids who get blown-off by other salespeople but I give them the time of day. Most of them are strokes, but some of them have cash - or parents willing to buy them cars. That's not really the point though, like I outlined above.
No need to get all pissy about this. Fine you see it your way, and I see it mine. I get it loud and clear buddy!!!! But I wouldn't give you a dime to test drive a car. Your out of your friggin mind, regardless of if I get it back or not!!!!!!!!!. Ive test drove cars way more expensive than this one and I didn't have to drop a dime down. Besides if you don't want them driving like tools then go with em. Is it that hard to understand? Sheese

"Your dealer obviously offered you the opportunity" No they didn't that's thre problem!!!! I think you misunderstand me!!!! I'm done arguing about this **** w/you. Later

I for one will be UBER pissed if someone drives my Evo before me unless it is off/on a boat/truck. I have put money down on it. I have been waiting for it. I expect noone (especially someone looking for a cheap thrill) to get to put the first miles on MY car.

Few dealers will probably need to allow anyone to test drive the Evos they get. Lets be reasonable - these cars will pretty much sell themselves....

You better get there when the truck rolls in then. I've heard some stories of NOT customers but employees at the dealers taking the car out for a quick spin. Not far enough to rack up miles but far enough to do several 5000rpm launches.

i just thought it was kind of ironic that this is the first brochure i have ever seen that talks about tunong a car, actually inviting you to tune the car then in the small print they throw in legal crap(won't be covered under warranty) i have no beef since i would be the first to start tuning one. i just thought it was kind of funny.

that's the plan... It doesn't look like Evos are going to be hitting the Minneapolis area for a while, but I want to wait till spring anyway... it pisses me off to think of anyone rodding on a car I have been waiting for just cause they can... I think I have a pretty good dealer who won't do this though... fingers crossed.

I agree. I just went to a local dealer to ask for a brochure and the first thing the guy said was "You don't need a brochure, once it gets here, come on in and see what that thing can do!" Not personally what I'd want to have done to my potential Evo, whether it's a 17 year old or a 30 year old.

In general, it's very understandable to want to test drive the car before purchasing it, but if there's as much demand as it appears, that will probably be very tough.

At my store I'm still forbidden to drive a 350Z and we've had those for months. I know there will be no employees, other than the tech's doing the mandatory PDI that will be allowed to drive the cars at my store. The one exception might be our first car, which will be on display at the Minneapolis Auto Show next month, then delivered to my store. I'm going to try and arrange to take that one home from the show on the last day, assuming arrangements to trailer the car have not already been made.

I'm not much of a thrasher though.
