"Your dealer obviously offered you the opportunity" No they didn't that's thre problem!!!! I think you misunderstand me!!!! I'm done arguing about this **** w/you. Later
Then where did this $500 dip come from?????

You still don't get it. The cost of the vehicle has nothing to do with it adn I ALWAYS go with my customers on demo drives. It's actually against the law not to in Minnesota.

gtr, calm down. No one is flaming you. You offered up your opinion along with a question. You can't be mad that people actually took the opportunity to reply and give THEIR opinion. Now, I don't know you at all, but I think you may be offended by this brochure because of it's "informal" nature. But truthfully, this informal nature is very identifyable to the market segment that Mitsu is trying to target with the Evo in the US. It's a US youth cultural thing. The younger sect of people in this country are more likely to identify with that informality of the brochure than they would be with the more traditional Japanese conservative brouchure.

And about test driving. Dealerships don't usually allow em on cars that are limited in supply or are expensive. This car is both limited and expensive compared to the other prducts that Mitsu is currently peddling on it's lots. Besides, they also know that most of us enthusiasts who are serious about our cars would NEVER buy a car that has been thrashed by a previous customer.

SC.

Well put. This is precisely the point. Also, with such a specialized car as the Evo there will generally be just two categories of people coming to look at it. Those who know they want to buy it and those who want to say they have driven it. Given the supply/demand situation, we don't have time for the latter.

Another thing I forgot to bring up when going to Thousand Oaks Mitsubishi, was that the dealer said they will have a seperate car for test drives..... I doubt his words were true but he was assistant manager so i gave him credit enough to remember he said that. I am 19, so he didn't really seem anything against it, but he knows i am vip mitsubishi dealy. He said that probably would have some kind of credit check of some sort, to know that at least you are a contender to buy and not some punk kid.(no offense).

Guys, I hate to break it to you, but it's gonna be pretty tough to avoid having your EVO driven by other people at the dealership. Even if it doesn't happen before you pick it up the first time, sooner or later it will when you inevitably have to take it into the dealership service center for whatever.

Mechanics and technicians are notorious for taking joyrides in performance cars. It's every owner's worst nightmare, but unless you are buddies with the tech, you can pretty much count on it.

I've seen way too many threads in many different enthusiast forums to think otherwise. Just some food for thought.

BTW, I am absolutely against this behavior, and not endorsing it in any way. If I found out this happenned to one of my cars I would be PISSED

But I wouldn't be surprised either.

I've heard of people puting GPS devices in the trunk to counteract this. The easiest way is to stay on the lot and pay attention to your car though. Also stay on your tech's good side.

Check with your local dealer and see if they have any in yet.
I went by today before reading this and one of the guys in parts said he had one for me, but then came back and said they were out!!!

I'll have to swing by another dealership to see if there are any more left there??

I doubt there will be cars for test drives at the beginning since they are already spoken for. There are enough people out there who will buy it without a drive.
BTW, the brochure was fine. way of having a "cool" brochure.

Speaking of the EVO site, I hope someone from this forum wins that EVO if it's not me. That would be cool.

It sucks when people win things they just don't appreciate. I'd rather see an enthusiast win!

I am assuming you are refering to the incident this summer with a Mustang Cobra in Texas. I don't remember the dealership, but I am sure a lot of you guys saw that story... Anyway, there are lots of ways to prevent the people at the dealership from joyriding in your car, GPS being a simple answer.

you can track milage & speed... very easy... if the tech takes your car out for a quick spin just to make sure everything is cool that's one thing... but to take your car out and drive the **** out of it, and then be stupid enough to post on a message board... that is another thing.

Yeah there was that too. That was just WAY stoopid. I've seen other references to similar things going on, and heard guys talk about that stuff too...

It just gives you ammunition to prove a tech is joyriding in your car. Also if they know you have one (i.e. you make it known) that might stop them from doing it.
