for example the '03-04 evo8 base msrp was $28995. the '05 went to $30,999. invoice on an '05 is about $28,600. the only way i would buy that car is for $29K OTD (out the door) including ALL FEES, TAX, TITLE, & LICENSE...
Thanks for the tip!
I explained to my dad the situation and he advised me to look for more prices. He also mentioned that i should consider waiting for the newer model (EVO9), but im not sure if i can wait any longer without a car.

Don't be so quick to take his advice. He thinks he's so cool, because he will only take it for 29k OTD, but then he doesn't mind the 13.99% apr that makes his total loan equal 45k. I bought my MR for MSRP the day after it arrived. With tax, tag, title, and 3.99%, my total after 5 years is less than 40k. So, what's better...a GSR that costs you 45k over 6 years or an MR that costs you 40k over 5?

i thought you meant my dad's advice first
Yeah, i see your point, however, i will be buying the car cash, therefore there shouldnt be any interest, is that correct?
I will be searching for more prices and i will get as many quotes as i can. I will try to share them with you guys. Looks like il be waiting for a few more months
But the way i see it, id rather wait and pay the right price, rather than rush and regret it.
Dont you guys agree?

In that case, you have even more buying power. Be sure to use that as part of your bargaining...the fact that you will be paying cash. They love that stuff, because there's no hassle and no worries about you paying your bills or not. They get the money right away, and it's a done deal.

Actually its the opposite of that. Fiancing gives the dealer another another way to make a profit. This is not to say that every dealer is out to screw you on financing, but given the choice between "selling" you a loan or not; they would rather do the loan.

BTW, I got the best finance deal on the last 2 cars I purchased through the dealership.

Thanks for the comments guys... keep em coming..

I called 3 different dealers and they all said "we dont negotiate over the phone," dealer number 2 said he can "definately" get me a better deal than the one i have. Dealer 3 said "theres a 70% chance i can get you a better deal"
Anyways, i called dealer 3 and he said "Listen, find me the best offer, and i will top it." PERIOD.
I dont know if he's just talking or not, but i will go to them and others and shop for prices as soon as my dad sends me the money.
I'll keep u guys updated.

Yeah, might be tough. I got USAA to give me that by saying that the Mitsu dealer was offering it to see if they'd match it. They did, so I went with it. Mitsu was only willing to do 4.59, though.
