I have the WRX/STi brochure that Subaru mailed out in front of me right now... I can't find any release date information on it???

Also, I can't remember ever reading anywhere that the WRX and STi would be released at the same time... I always read that the WRX would be out 1st and then later the STi would come?

Where are you getting your information??? Remember that the dealerships are the LAST to know anything.

I got this from the Subaru guys at the philly auto show, a couple of weeks after the sti info had been announced. I've also called a few dealers and was told the same information, so after hearing same thing 4 times, i started to believe it..

apparently the dates not on the brochure but on the letter that came with it.

I also dont see why they wouldnt release both cars at once.. seems more logical to me. but I guess car manufacturers are anything but these days.

They are not. Subaru sent me a letter with a sti catalog talking about the 04 wrx and sti's. They said:

The WRX STi is expected to arrive in Subaru dealerships this summer. The Impreza WRX for 2004, with its bold new front-end design and more aggressive appearance, should be available in early April.

They also give you the nearest dealer info. They seem very interested in selling their product

? When is the evo coming? It's going to be a 04 model right

Well, I stand corrected.. My apologies.

I guess this is better for me though, I'm waiting on a 1st allocation evo, but if the dealer tries to pull any crap w/ price, or i just didnt like it, off to subaru I go for an '04 wrx... this just means I'll have to wait less between arrivals

I forgot about the letter... I think I threw it away, but I'll check for it.

Don't give up on the EVO just because of some slimy car sales man... if anything, buy the STi if you choose not to buy the EVO... don't settle for the WRX... I think you would regret it later?

That's why it is called an "Estimated Ship Date". Beyond this forum, the only people likely to see, or care about these dates are the new car managers at the dealerships.

I'd love to get either car, but the main thing that would dissuade me from getting the evo would be price issues, as I can barely afford the car now, under the best of conditions. If theres a markup, or the dealers try to hike the price otherwise, I may have to walk... and if I cant afford the evo, I wont be able to afford STI.

Hey MarkF, the dealer installed options... are the options for the customer or for the dealer?? namely, If I have an evo alloted to me in the 1st shipment, can the dealer throw all the optional crap that i dont want on it and tell me to take it or leave it with all the crap, or do I have to tell him what I want (and dont), and they will provide it accordingly?

Can they just throw stuff on... sure, but only if the stuffs in stock, which is unlikely. I can't imagine anyone keeping an inventory of those accessories - they would all have to be special ordered. If you wanted some of those things on your car though I recommend giving your salesperson a call so the arrangements can be made.

I have not had a chance to check if we have pricing yet. Since we don't have pricing for the cars I imagine we don't have pricing for the accessories yet either.

My dealer (auto) called today to let me know they had the new brochures available and was holding one for me. I stop in and talked to the salesperson. Not much new but will pass along the "updated" info.

The sales staff at this dealership are going to training mid month on the EVO. Current schedules show the cars shipping late this month with arrival second week of March. They do not know the colors of the 3 cars coming.

They will sell the cars at MSRP and they are currently being told that MSRP is below 30K. I have a buy order at $29,900. This time next month we may start hearing owner reports!

Lucky you. Your probably considered in the mountain region. I think march is for Midwest people because they decided to hold my car until March instead of Feburary 10 which then you would probably see yours. Let us know and post pics next week if you recieve your delivery. Hopefully soon.

Maybe people in california is getting theirs with week if yours is really in transit

I was at my dealer last night picking up a few Evo brochures, and I asked him about the chatter of the ship dates being pushed back. He asked me what dates everone on ths board were talking about, and I said some people were saying the first or second week of March. Keep in mind my dealer showed me the manifest that said the ship date on my Evo was 2/25/03, and last night after I said that people were saying some time in March he stopped and paused and said "Yea that time in March looks like a more realistic time they will be coming out." So he must know something, and he's not telling me or he's just as clueless, I suspect the latter.
