E-town/Raceway Park Road Course

I was just looking at their site again, which hardly gets updated, and was wondering if anybody went there to check out their progress so far or maybe talked to somebody that works there to find out when it's ETA is for being finished... I firmly believe we need this up in the Tri-State area, it'd be a ton of fun... maybe then we'll see some real deal Evo Shoot-outs and not get bastardized from the rest of the country because all we do here is straightline...... and, like the quote from GT4 adds... "anyone can fire a bullet, few can steer it" or something like that...

www.racewaypark.com click on roadcourse...

Tri State Area has some of the best road courses in the country. Watkins Glen, Beaver Run, and Lime Rock Park. Pocono has two road courses. Another would be nice but it isn't like we do not have any.

I don't know if that road course is safe for any car...........the run-off is very very narrow compare to any road course I been to.

My guess is that road course is design for Kart.

This is kinda on topic...

How do you go about obtaining a competition license so you can do the road courses?

You do not need any type of license to go on a road course. Just hook up with a club that is renting the track for the day and pay your $200 and you are in. Try NASA, PCA, BMW,. I am going to Pocono on May 13 with the Northeast Corvair Council. I think that it was $185. BTW the "road course" at E Town was an ill conceived idea for bike racing. Problem was the sanctioning body would not certify it. Not sure what the status is now, but the run off is poor. It would make a great go-kart track though.

hmmm...

The reason I asked about license is that LimeRock told me that EVERY1 who participated needed a competiton license to take their car on the track. (I wanted to set up a track day)

Maybe thats different then the road course thing or maybe it's jut LimeRock that requires it...

I am still looking into it!

i was thinking jumping in with the porsche owners club for the next time they run pocono...

i didn't think there was much wash there at that etown track either... i just wonder if they're going to be adding anything to it... i thought at first it was a kart track, but my friends that were up there last year said someone that worked there said it would be open for bikes and cars... dunno...

NOT TRUE! The club that rents the track dictates the rules. Good luck setting up a track day at Lime Rock Your best bet is hooking up with a Club. PM me if you want info on running at Lime Rock in the fall with us or at Pocono on May13th.

-nope there is seperate asphalt road course bordering pension road. see the raceway park website for an aerial photo. perry adelbaum who runs the NNJR SCCA autox was involved in the course development, and actually has a lot of laps on it. he says the township is holding it up because it was build without approval from them. interesting considering the land belongs to raceway park, but maybeit is a zoning issue. if you look at the layout it doubles back on itself a lot with very little run-off. they will need to put lots of concrete barriers up so it will not be a forgiving course...

they said it long ago, that was to be a road course for cars not karts, its been held up due to zoning and the fact that one turn comes too close to pension road (lack of proper runoff)

i have no updates
