I have more preferences to aesthetics. Actually, I'm more into getting the most info from my MP3 discs. I checked out all 3 I mentioned earlier @ BestBuy. The Pioneer seems "creaky" when I move that big knob. Even the display is nice, it seem too busy with the background crap. The Alpine 9851 seemed nice, but the display has the "not the latest technology" display. BB just got in Alpine's 9853. It had a slightly better display, but that "Glidetouch" feature is a pain in the a$$. I don't know, I'm still up in the air. I love the features on those new JVC touch screen ones, but I want a knob for volume control.

Have an Alpine...the year year model. But the new ones for this year look even better and are cheaper than last years w/ the same function. Alpine fo'show.

I think my Pioneer does a better job at displaying MP3 file info then my Alpine does, which is a 9830 I think. A knob was a must for volume control, but the Alpine knob is definitely better. I agree that the Alpine looks "old" with its display, but it has the performance where it counts. Also, bright sunlight washes out the Pioneer's pretty easy.
