anyways... i hate hearing ppl say "i hate when ppl say, lets take it to a road course"... it's non-sense... those ppl with Cobra's, SS's, WS-6's all want the same damned thing, a drag, and why??? because it's THEIR car's SOLE purpose for it's exsistance... and why do they do this all the time... because they read in magazines about editors ranting and raving about how the evo is "the best bang for the buck" "will humiliate cars twice it's value" and "couldn't have gone faster through the mountains with a 360 modena"... so, they fig, well, i'll just beat up on that car in it's most vulnerable area... I'll give those Hessian's credit, they know where to go for blood...
to win... in something the car was never intended to do anyways... draggin'... you're gonna need some 272/264 or 272/272 cams, a good tune, a gutted trunk, 100+oct race fuel, some added boost, and some good driving... that "should" be a done-deal with that cobra... till he decides to spray and throw on mickey t dr's...
unless you're tuned for race fuel, he will destroy you. with the mods he has & slicks or drag radials, he will run 11's all day long. the '03 cobra is the only mustang with a DOHC V8...

Buschur states the following with their Stage 3 on a 2003 EVO not a 2005 -
1/4 MILE PERFORMANCE OF BR EVO VIII WITH BUSCHUR RACING STAGE 3 PKG:
60FT - 1.75
1/8 ET- 7.79
1/8 MPH- 90.06
1/4 ET- 12.09
1/4 MPH- 115.09
Goto a Buschur Stage 3 or 4 and he won't touch you on the street with street tires.
BTW you didn't mention the model/year of your EVO.
LOL

If you race from the line you might keep him off until about 80-90 or so but he will be coming up on you, and thats if you get a REALLY good launch. Otherwise youre going to get pulled
From a roll youre dead.
Ive raced about 4 Cobras so far. One stock, one with intake/exhaust, one with just exhaust and one with exhaust and pullied. I was at a dead heat (from a roll) with the pullied one. They are FAST from rolls-ons. I have YET to race one off the line, Id spank them Im sure if I did

I've been to 6 DEs in the past 10 months. There have been plenty of Mustangs (including Cobras) and F-Bodies out there, and the freakin things can't get out of their own way in the curvy sections. (A little waffling now: I've been beaten by some cars prepped for NASA's American Iron and Camaro-Mustang Challenge classes, but I don't count them.)
The only "street" Mustang or F-Body that I recall being faster than me was driven by an instructor - and he was on R-Compunds. He was so impressed with the Evo while riding with me that he said (seriously, I think) that his next car will be an Evo.
Don't sweat the loss. The thing you need most is a clutch. Our cars strongest asset in the straight line is the launch so you need the clutch to make sure you get the hole shot. As for the Cobra, he is making about 420+ to the wheels. Don't forget though, he's pushing 3,650lbs. so from the hole he's really gonna struggle. From driving a stock one, I know the Cobra is a monster from a roll. I also see them at the track all the time and they are not that fast in the 1/4 mile. There have been a few good drivers who got them into the mid 12's stock, but that's rare. With the extra hp on your coworkers car he's gonna be even faster from a roll. I think with cams and a tune plus the clutch, you'll be able to take him in a race to 100mph. Good luck!
Yep, pretty much what he said^^^^. I'm pushing 334hp/326tq to the wheels with cams and a good tune and I barely beat one on the highway (I-35) a couple of weeks ago. We raced two times from about 60mph and I was able to pull ahead of him both times to my surprise. He might of been stock though for all I know. Those superchargers sound mean as hell when they spool up.

... Good luck.
