Hey it doesnt matter if its a large or small city. It all depends on the cops. If they're bored, they will stop you for basically anything. I live in Boston and crap like this happens all the time.

All i can say... wow - Iam wondering if you could say something like this: If the exhaust is loud or you think its not stock, TEST it, use your tester for exhausts.

its different for bikes because for a bike the louder the better so that people know your coming and will look for you. if a bike is quiet its much easier to get hit. ill talk to you guys later when i get out of work.

I know! 3:15 AM! Dude I thought of that when I got home! What a weird coincidence....
Anyway, if anything, this situation has spurred me to research my rights, so now I know what I'm legally entitled to tell the next cop who tries to infringe upon my rights.

The fact that these guys pulled me for exhaust, and that issue was cleared up, they couldn't verify anything, they were supposed to let me go, but looked for more trouble. They had no probable cause, yet said they did. They lied to me. I had full right to refuse a search. Such garbage, I feel bad for all the good cops out there...guys like this give cops a bad name.

Second, this is for all members on the forum regardless if your 16yr old or 50yr old. When an officer askes if he can search your car, you have the right to say no by law. Honestly if we had probable cause, we wouldn't ask. So don't feel as if you have to let them search.

It's funny because I work in D.C. and we so busy, we don't have time to just pull people over to **** with them.

It is my belief that if you wanted to, and had the guys name and badge number you could file a complaint for borderline harassment. Especially if he didn't get you a ticket for any violation.
Good Advice, and EVERYONE needs to remember this. That cop raped you because you didn't know your rights. Chock it up to experience.

it's times like these that you wish you had a hidden sound recorder or video camera.

I thought this was going to be another "your (stock) wing is too big - here's a ticket" threads. That sucks, and I've been there too. Driving normally home from work late one night in my old FD this cop comes out of nowhere, doing like 60-70 in a 45 (I was going 50) flying up behind me, rides my bumper for a few seconds, then hits the lights. I pulled into a parking lot....long story short he accused me of street racing (nobody else on the road mind you), then after I told him 3 times I wasn't and I was just driving home from work he says "when I was your age (he was like 25) people didn't talk back to the cops...blah blah blah", then says I had already confessed to racing (which, like I said, was a lie because I wasn't and had already said 3 times I wasn't), and lets me off with a warning.

Too many cops out there suffering badly from "john wayne syndrome"

I hear so many bad cop stories from Evo owners. I am just glad we have cool cops in my area. I know a couple young guys who recently became cops around my hometown too. I hope I don't ever have to deal with harassment from an ignorant officer. Just like someone said earlier, the bad cops give the force a bad name. If cops are gonna pull people over for know reason hoping to get lucky, at least let them go on thier way once you see they are not breaking any laws!

This makes me want to keep a camcorder in the car. The new Cannon digital cameras can record pretty long videos and they're no bigger than a cellphone. Anyone know if it's legal to ask an officer to record a confrontation?
