Any ideas???

Ok so heres the problem. I have occasionanly throwing a check engine light. It does not seem like anything is wrong with the car and the light goes off my itself sometimes. Anyway, I tried to get the code read this morning but the OBD thingy did not even register my car as being "on" I have the Buschur racing CEL elmintator on there....

Any ideas why my car wont read on the diagnostic tool? Any help would be appreciated!

Did you set up the obd II scanner correctly? I had somewhat of a problem of getting the plugs to snap in, took me and the tech. literrally 5 minutes to get it on good. ( sorry if this is the way you did it)Dont turn the car on, just turn the key on the on position where all your lights are on the dash come on.

I had to turn my key forward (I think its called ACC) til the A/C and stuff comes on... It wouldn't read on the first turn.. Not really sure if this will make sense to you.

my car has been randomly showing the "check engine soon" light as well..... i have about 18k miles on it with no modifications.

the dealer is too far for me to try and take it there each time...plus it goes off randomly too.... probably need a new catalytic converter?

I think i figured out my problem....

I checked my connections on the CEL eliminator from Buschur (Re-did the ground) And later that day the check engine light went off. Has not come back on since (Knock on wood- LOL) I am thinking that the OBD was not reading b/c of the emliminator? Oh well!
