Well to check the ballast you would need to get a hold of a good bulb ie - your other headlight (I don't know of any other way) and check it.

As for Mobounce - your $486.00 - Did that include all of the internals (wiring, ballast, bulbs, motor for headlight, etc) to the headlight or just the shell?? Cause that $486 sounds like it was just the shell to the headlight.

The price of the headlight sounds outragous, but he also had body and paint work done, so it was more then just a headlight for 1600

You want the highest quote. Then, you can pocket savings when buy used parts around here or buy some aftermarket stuff.

What are they painting? It's sounds more serious than a headlamp broken.

Porsche HID headlight assemblies are always getting stolen as new ones cost about double the $1,700 quoted by Mitsu. Porsche now puts some kind of anti-theft thing on them to make them harder to steal.

Your price seems high but in the ballpark. I had a headlight assembly replaced and had the same reaction to the line item on the receipt. I don't even have HIDs either!

Ask them what it costs to replace the wire harness if you want a laugh.

Actually on the police report the trooper said it was either hit by a bumper, kicked, or it even showed signs of being ripped at like they where trying to steal the headlight.

As for the painting where it was hit they are saying they are going to have to pull the metal back sand it down and repaint it....

yeah, that price is correct. at my price, the headlight alone (just one w/ no internals) is $1000.

If your fender was damaged, that will have to be replaced. The body shop will not be able to fix it. Any good shop should know you don't fix aluminum, it must me replaced. Also, the headlamp price is right. The housing for the lamp is approx 500 bucks. Depending on what dealer you go to. I have a set of headlamps in my garage that were slightly damaged in an accident from a friend of mine. I asked the body shop for them and they gave them to me. Funny that I have 3 grand sitting on my workbench in my garage.

Whoa...The area that was hit is not the bumper but the metal area that meets up with the edge of the headlight on the side of the car. is this the area you are talking about favre? if so I'm gonna be pissed they quoted to fix something that you cant even do...

Yeah, aluminum panels cannot be cold set (bent without heat) without damaging the strength of the panel. Any damaged aluminum parts need replacement.

the headlight shell is $311.87 from me and that is bare. You would have to swap everything over. As for repairing aluminum, NSN is right, you can't repair bends.
