OMG! Mitsu Quote for Headlight...

So a week and half ago my car was vandalized...I got a dent beside my right front headlight, it broke the seal on the headlight rain / moisture got in and destroyed my HID's.

I go to Mitsu today to get a quote and OMG I almost died.

$1,700 for...

Replt RT Headlamp assy 1189.54
Body Labor 5.4 hrs & 40.00/hr 216.00
Paint Labor 4.8 hrs & 40.00/hr 192.00
Paint Supplies 4.8 Hrs & 20.00/hr 96.00

$1696.54

I find it hard to belive that its actually much for a headlamp?

Someone please shed some light for me.

Its not that big of a deal my insurance covered but dear god...

Hey man thats high if you look at it. You can order JDM evo MR headlights for 695 , and i'm sure you can get a better body estimate if you went to a private body shop not a mitsubishi dealer. But thats my opinion. Oh and we have 3 sets of JDM EVO MR headlights coming in, in about 5 weeks

If it's just the headlight that is broken. You can replace it yourself. It's just a matter of taking the front bumper off . . . . . . ugh that always sucks though.

Good luck.

DrBump471 is right it does not include bulbs, BUT you would go to http://www.hidexpress.com/, they offer great prices on HID, and you are still looking at it being cheaper. Oh and if the bulb just blew that should not affect your ballast.

GNV makes a good point!! Check your Ballast. The bulb will only run you like a hundred bucks.

Yes it is an OK price, but you gotta look at it this way, this mitsu dealer probably has to send their work out of shop, so they are a middle man and have to make SOME money. So if he went somewhere else he could be saving a good 10-15 dollars an hour possibly.

your right, i don't trust factory body shops anymore. Penske Honda's Body shop ruined it for me. Church Brothers is an Great place and so is Collision Solutions ( where i work! )

Well i say tell mitsu you will think about it. call another shop, and get a quote, even if you have to wait on headlights its still better then paying 3 times more then you have to. But this is what i would do, and i am not you, but good luck bro.
