here is a website that I found that may interest you....it is all speculation though...it is odd that they estimated it that low....but, motor trend did say 4.9 or lower on the 0-60 times. Anyway here ya go

yes i would have to agree...a human being is not really going to be able really to tell if they hit 5.1 or 4.9 but...it would be so awesome to own a car that can in fact go 0-60 under 5 sec!!!
Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the WRX hit 60 @ 5.4 or somewhere in that immediate neighborhood
edit: I put my numbers in wrong, sorry guys

You must know how to drive an awd car if you expect to run real good 0-60mph times.
That is the reason many 0-60mph times aren't as good as one might expect.
An average driver with little or no skill launching an awd car may only pull a 5.8 sec 0-60mph. A skilled driver with experience drag racing an awd car could pull 4.8 sec 0-60mph with the same car.
Stock WRX's 0-60mph times have ranged from 5.4 sec all the way to 6.2 sec depending on the Magazine. The difference is the drivers skill not the car.
Also most test pilots aren't perpared to drop the clutch at 5000 rpms. It takes a very high rpm launch to get off the line fast in an awd car. It is very easy to bogg off the line and that really hurts performance.
In my WRX ,I leave the line around 5000 rpms if I really want to haul butt.

agree totally....i think subaru states that the wrx can reach it in 5.4....it was in an add in a mag....not even a car mag.....it was right next to none other than the ad for the srt-4...lol...but i think the evo could hit 4.8 under certain conditions and a good skilled driver.
does it make anyone upset to know that if you were to go up against a wrx it might be able to keep up depending on driver skill, If I were to buy an EVO i'd want it to blow away everything, and yes this applies to straight line races On road courses the EVO by all means should win

P.S. that was one of the coolest days of my like!!!
Good topic. I think when we are talking about 0-60 in the WRX, Sti, Evo VIII and anything else in this range it's all on the driver.
The WRX was my first awd car and SGOSWRX is exaclty correct
about his statement, meaning awd cars launch differently. I remember going from the 99 si to the WRX, it was totally different
and I bogged the WRX when I would launch at first. BUT when
you do get it down hold on because it will put you in your seat.
Watch speed channel sometime when vettes, audi's, porsches,
etc, are racing. The audi always pulls ahead first (awd).

I have beat countless vehicles with significant more horsepower than my little 4g63 AWD... its all about driver skill AND knowing how to use your car to your advantage.

I have pummeled so many LS1s its silly... but the same car that I could beat from a dead stop, I may not be able to beat from a roll.
Stop races are where the AWD shine, especially when you are up against someone who doesn't know how to launch!!!
Absolutely correct!! Even all-wheel-drive cars launch differently as well... It took me a while to perfect launching both my cars.. And even though I love my DSM, Launching seems to be much easier in the WRX than in my GSX... Props to subaru for their clutch system... Where's my EVO??!!!!
