Hmm...I only use MT90 for the tranny and Mobil Synthetic for the TC and rear diff.
So far 25K miles and shifts just fine in fact better than stock which wouldn't let shift into 2nd gear at high rpm. With MT90, I'm going into 2nd at 7600rpm super fast.

I used Redline in the manual transaxle without many problems. The MT-90 was too heavy for cold winter shifting, so I mixed with some MTL and have had no problems since. It's actually a smoother shift than with stock fluids.
As for the OEM fluids, I called to get it and they told me that they just get whatever is on the shelf at a local autoparts place with the recommended viscosity. Until something goes wrong, I'll stick with the Redline (knock on wood...).

Mitsubishi recommends using GL4 in your trannie. That means you can use any GL4 approved oil, which includes MT-90.
I thought there was a back story on those boxes that got killed by Buschur using Redline (like, they were using the wrong oil type), but I'm not going to search for it.
That being said, I had excellent results with Redline in my Z. It was a huge improvement in shift feel. But on my EVO, it got more notchy when cold... hard to get into reverse in the morning, etc. It made no improvement to the intermittent 2nd gear grind I've had since 400 miles on the odo either. I plan to try some other fluid soon (at least in the gearbox).

I switched from the OEM stuff to Redline about 13k miles ago. I used MTL in the tranny and the MT-90 in the TC and rear diff. The difference was noticable and I liked the feel of the shifter.
However, I just changed oils again last weekend. I went with BG Synchro in the tranny this time, and the Redline Shockproof stuff for the TC and rear diff. BIG DIFFERENCE!! The shifting is really smooth even into first when the car is cold. I went to my favorite "track" yesterday, where I'm in 2nd about 60% of the time, and it was my best run yet there. I don't know exactly why it feels better, but the combination of BG and Shockproof is good stuff.

Is the Royal Purple GL4 type? I've found that most of the ones I hear people mention on here (like BG Syncromesh) are actually GL5, which is not recommended by Mitsu for an EVO. I'm hoping Royal Purple is GL4, because I've heard such good comments about them that I'd like to try it.
