Never thought that this would become such a big topic. Glad to get it started to get the info out there.

Stock damper too.

Curt is NOT making near 500 whp. His trap speeds were 124, at best I would guess the car is making around 440, which is remarkable anyway.

doesn't make much sense, if the RS is trapping 116-118 and putting down 393whp, adding another 6 to 8 mph trap is more than 47whp. i'd say a 124 trap is equal to 470 to 480 whp, attainable considering how much boost curt's been known to run.

Wow 470whp is a lot for a STOCK turbo maybe the car was gutted to hell.
Still needs some serious power thought to hit 10's

One of the guys at Aerocomp racing dynoed around 378 or so on the mustang dyno they have. He runs 11.67 at 117. He has 280's, clutch, SAFC, MBC, and Jestr tuning flash.

It does make sense RS made 393 on it's best day on the dyno. The RS trapped 116 mph.

Every MPH gain takes about 10 more HP. Nothing else taken into consideration such as huge improvements in traction, power shifting, or weight. The difference between 116 mph and 124 mph is 8 mph. That would in theory take you to 473 whp, problem is the stock turbo is NOT going to make that. The other problem is the powershifting, increased traction and weight reduction on Curt's car.

I'm sticking with my 440 whp estimate and to be honest I believe even that is 15-25 whp higher than the car was making.

Take into consideration Curt is one bad *** driver. His 10.9 at 124 pass was done with a 1.53 sixty foot time.

Dave: you have a ported exhaust manifold, clipped tme turbine, ported 10.5 Hot side, ported 02 housing, and larger TB on your RS correct? I have a 16g stock turbo with 10.5 hotside that makes 355 whp, would the other items aside from the clipped turbine help me achieve similar #s to yours on pump gas? thanks

What are you tuning the car with? Some of the difference in power could be tune or the dyno type.

The TB and intake porting picked up my car 10 whp. The turbine housing, 02 and manifold gained another (about) 20 whp with some additional tuning I could get away with.

Oh I forgot about the 280's. That was a 25+ gain over the 272's I had in the car.

25+ gain? Good god, that's a lot of hp. How does the curve look for the 280's vs the 272?

280's make that much of a difference compared to the 272's? I basically have a buschur racing stage 4 (minus upgraded injectors) with a TurboTrix flash. I'm running straight 272's and pulled 334hp/326tq on a mustang dyno a couple of months ago. Since then I've added cam gears which are still set to stock specs and a lighter crank pulley. I'm looking at two turbo upgrades... BR580 with gt35r or Greddy T-67 but would first like to max out the stock turbo. Would a piggy back such as Xede make that much of a difference at this point plus 660 injectors?

^^^^^That's what some folks around here are telling me, but I keep reading the AEM EMS forums and see a bunch of people having problems with colds starts, stalling, maps being erased, and having to constantly play with it. My problem is that this is my every day car and I don't want to have to constantly play with it to get it to run right. I want to install something, have it tuned, and forget about it until my next mod. I've looked into the Autronics, but there doesn't seem to be many tuners using that system. <SHRUG>
