Seatbelts I presume?
Wreck.
Hit on the right making a right hand turn? Only if the VW was driving on the sidewalk. Or, was your friend in the left lane cutting back across the right lane (without looking to see if it was occupied?) Was he also on the cell phone?
One of the reasons I sold my Miata for the Evo was safety and this helps confirm the wisdom of that decision.

was that and 03-04 or 05 model? because the earlier model was rated only 2/5 for front seat t-bone collision and the new one is rated at 4/5 or something, seems like it did hold up pretty well. good luck to you guys.

Glad to hear your both ok. I was in an accident like that when my friend went from a left hand turn lane to make a right turn without looking (very stupid, I don't recomend it). We were t-boned by a van going 40 but niether of us was injured. Fortunatly we were in a beater mini van and not a pimpin evo.

I am glad to see everyone made it out alive! Crappy about the Evo, I hope your friend gets another one. His car was looking very nice, what a shame.

On a side note...I have been in a few accidents but if I was you just sitting there looking at my cell phone then all of a sudden WHAMMO, well...I would have **** my pants on that one!

Wow, it's a miracle everyone made it okay even the 18yr old kid in the GTi. Those cars are pretty well built too and it's totally wasted. I hope all is well with you in the long run & your buddy gets another one.

The kid must have activated the windshield wipers during the impact. The wipers are in the middle of a cycle.

Thanks for the replies guys and your concerns i appreciate it. The Evo was an early 03 model(R.I.P.). The car saved my life!! Be really careful out there speciall y when these young kids try to show off around our cars. The car is sitting in a police inpound right now and waiting for the insurance. Might have some parts for sale soon. I will let you know if anyone is interersted here.
