What power mod next?

Well first off let me say hi and as of 10 days ago I am the owner of a 03 blue by you evo and all I can say is this is greatness. The car came with the following mods:

Buschur 2.5" exhaust (stock cat is still on)
HKS RS intake
HKS 264 cams
ARP Headstuds
HKS 660cc injectors
Hallman mbc @ 20psi
255lph pump
boost gauge
dynoflash custom tune

Before you say 3" exhaust its already been ordered. I already plan on getting volks, new headunit, tint, springs and have ordered evodave tails but what I'm stuck on is what my next power mod should be. I want to keep stock turbo for now at least but where I'm confused is how beneficial would it be to get buschur fmic and pipes and maybe alcohol kit if I have to get it retuned after. I dont want to ruin the custom tune but want more than 300whp on pump. I was thinking maybe 272's but would the gain really be worth the $. Also recommend me some springs.

272's will ruin your tune, and the 264's will be good until you upgrade the turbo. I would suggest getting lower ic piping, and if you look into it, there is a lot of debate whether or not a fmic is going to help you with the stock turbo. If you do want the power, the alcohol kit will get you over that 300 mark, but you will def. need a retune. I would say, just get the lower piping, and buy coilovers instead of springs.

Springs will shorten the lifespan of the stock struts, and a coilover will help you lower your car, and not sacrifice handling. As for a recommendation, I think it all depends on how you plan on driving your car, but I think the best bang for your buck would be the tein flex system. Congrats on the ride...

Removing you cat will help quite a bit. You should already have more than 300whp with those mods.

I realize this and can't wait to get my buschur 3" turbo back on with test pipe and br muffler.

What about the possibility of a 50 shot with race gas at the track? That could yield some easy numbers.

the comment about the cams.... it seems what people are doing is getting longer and longer durations cams because you can tune more out of them.

quick synopsis. if you get longer durations cams... and cam gears you can effectively dial out the bad idle by seperating the cams by 2 or so degrees... then advance them together to shift your power sooner on the powerband. the longer duration will however keep your top end there. just seems like a nice way to do things. lettin' you know. for more info i believe ted b is willing to share.

those 264's will take you a long way...don't worry about swapping them out. You have all the stuff (for sale reliablity). I would do like you said front mount with piping and alky kit ( i may have a alky kit available (slightly used for very cheap so keep a eye out).

Soo.. what your saying is you could get combo 272's or 280's with cam gears and a good tune and not have the crappy lumpy idle? Are you sure? If so that peeks my interest in the 272 or 280's.

Yeah stay with teh 264's there is no solid evidence that they have ANY advantage over 272's while running a stock turbo.

Get a Lower IC pipe for SURE, look into a crank pully, I had good luck with them.

mmm there is evidence that longer duration cams make power everywhere on stock turbo... check david buschur's quick parts updates and dyno testing threads.

ted b's little cam escapades are in the vishnu forums.

for all the info you need i went through and searched it all you lazy bastards.

silver surfer's cam timing
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=74284

ted b's increased power and fuel economy
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ght=cam+timing

buschur quick parts updates
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ght=cam+timing

buschur's dyno new developements
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...t=buschur+dyno

after reading these and their associated links inside (particularly the ones from ams about cam tuning) you should be able to see why cam tuning is important and why you can get more power and better idle and even more gas mileage for tuning carefully with a good basis of knowledge of what happens when you tweak this or that.
