Name this part!!!

Found this today when i was putting in my MBC. It looks as if it is unplugged. Is that normal?? It is attached to the back of the fan and cubed shaped. Little bit smaller then a ECU. Sorry bout the crappy pics, all i had at the time was my camera Phone.

Your pics are tiny on my screen, but I am pretty sure that's the engine fan controller. I had the recall done on my '03 for it just this past week and noticed today that mine has a connector location with nothing on it too. I don't remember seeing that on the recalled one, but maybe the newer versions are just like that. I would imagine uses them on mulitple vehicles, so maybe it's for something the Evo doesn't have, but others do...

Yeah, Its your Fan controller.. That connector doesn't actually have anything connected to it, your correct, this controller is used on several different models. BTW, if your car is a 2003, there may be a recall on that bad-boy if it already wasn't done at your last service.

Thanks for the heads up tho

It actually went in to the dealer for a "tranny problem", but they did all the recall work while they had it. They also ordered the correct GRVW sticker for the door jamb and "inspected" the O2 sensor. Apparently there is a TSB or something for the "boot" leaking? I don't have the paperwork here to see exactly what that was, but I'll pick it up when I go back for the sticker and see what's up.

Sorry for the double post, but I just realized you were talking to the thread starter there Malibu

Yeah, nhsean69, call your local dealer and they can look up all recalls open for your car if you give them your VIN #. The fan controller on '03s is definitely under recall (among the other things I mentioned).

Yah thanks, According to all the recalls are done. What did the Problems did you experiance with the fan controller being messed up or what was the recall for. I notice sometimes when i start my car, the fan kicks on almost as soon as the car is done turning over, even after it sits for the night like 9/10hrs.

Yeah thats the Fan controller.... you should have two harnesses plugged into the bottom and the one on the side pointing toward the turbo will be empty...
