It was probably an R1(1 litre) they top out around 180. I've seen a pic of a guy on an R6 with 171 indicated on his speedo. The the fastest I have heard of an R6 clocked is like 160. The problem is there is a lot of drag on a bike and at around 158 the back tire will spin causeing the speedo to read high. That and bike speedo's are not real accurate. The thing is a blast but you better be holden on between 10-15.5k rpms. It's goin with or without you.

Yep, bikes are amazingly quick. Even my wimpy little bike, a y2k SV650 v-twin does 0-60 in 3.2 seconds.

For a while I was looking at buying a WRX, but when I saw that it puts less power on the ground (around 150HP) than a 650-700 pound (wet, with rider) Suzuki Hayabusa, and maybe even less than a GSXR-1000, well, I just couldn't stomach it anymore.

I am really hoping our US Evo can get at least 200HP to the wheels, although that might be wishful thinking. Anyone know how efficient the drive train is compared to the WRX?

clocked by the chicago police, so, the speed is accurate, at first they thought their radar was giving a false number.

Hmmm

As far as the wing goes (hope im still in the thread...its gotten so off topic) I have had thoughts of removing that beast just to have the clean low profile innocent look.....But then I looked into it.....Its got 3 attack angles....theirfore it performs...not to mention the Aerodynamic pluses to wings shaped like that (as opposed to GT style) Now for the guy and his wife...An evo is a bit extreme for a grocery kid getter.....How about a 13 second minivan hehehehe OK JUST ONE MORE HONDA http://www.speedoptions.com/features_car.asp?id=55

Motos are so much fun. I had a 99' Hayabusa, was havin a little fun cruisin down a residential street looked down at the speedometer and noticed I was doin' 80. Too easy to go fast on that bike. Could only crack the throtle about 3/4 of the way then had to hold on for dear life.

On Topic:

Factory no wing option would be the Evo RS.
Aftermarket delete would be any carbon fiber trunk replacement or RS trunk swap.

Things you may want that aren't in an RS package:
-Power windows (i don't miss mine actually)
-Power locks (definitely want those back)
-Moon roof (ditto on that)
-ACD
-6 speed tranny

i've got an RS (aka. the wingless Evo) its true that is is a functional spoiler but MOST people will never know the difference whether it was there or not. i drive my friends MR all the time and the only difference is his suspension is a lil softer.

Is there anything out there that we can use to plug the holes in the trunk when the wing is removed? Like some plastic tabs or something? It would be great for those of use that want to go wingless for a bit but not forever.

I agree with you. I had a IX RS and I now drive a IX SE with a MR suspension. Comparing a stock RS to the (winged) stock SE, I noticed no difference whatsoever in handling/grip at speed. As for the MR suspension, the ride is slightly more comfortable - which doesn't really matter to me - but its more compliant nature keeps the car, and its rear in particular, planted when pitched on less than perfect roads.

FWIW, the wing on my SE is coming off next Spring. I'll be replacing it with a RS lid.
