Wing Delete Option?

Ok, I'm new here so please be patient. I love the Evo VII (as well the VIII i am sure when it is released). In fact I love it soo much I am planning on getting myself on a list asap to be ready for the first incoming cars in '02/'03. But i gotta ask with all respect to the this great car and the fine people who use this post, is there any factory delete option for the rear wing? It is not a deal breaker-I still plan on purchasing as soon as possible. That wing is just not my style though and I would prefer the sleeper look without the aero add-on.
If no fatcory delete, can I or a body shop remove it after the time of purchase?

Thumbs up

try the audi A4, it will make you fall asleep because it is so slow. if you do not like the wing, you do not like it at all.

take a hacksaw, cut it off and then you better move to mexico cause I and many others are gonna be at your front day, We are part of the "Battered Evos helpers group" and we don't like evo's mistreated.
And we will give you a beating you will not forget.

That wing is the tradition with the EVO's just like the corvetts with circle lights. It'll be wrong to do such a thing. Get a subaru. The wing is optional.

I cannot wait for the american EVO to come out. I wonder though, how many people will get the EVO and enjoy it as much as we will......ahh well ***'em AS long as we get the car it will be OK.

Mr.Glass

PS-Please post me or send me any links u have to cool sites where i can look at advancement parts for Lancers. The kinda parts that will make my car a show winner, and burn on streets!

It's a tradition to have the wing. Eventhough you remove the wing on your "soon-to-be-your" EVO. A lot of people who knows more about Mitsu, Rallies and such will still know that it's an EVO. You can run but you cannot hide the true identity of the EVO. And last thing is, dont you want to help your car to be stable sustaining speeds around 90+mph with windy conditions??

jhaycee,

One more thing about the EVO's are that they WILL scare a lot of Hondas in your way... LOL

You can remove the wing, people have done that, but as people in this thread said, it is a sacrilege and you will suffer accordingly....
The wing doesn't have a huge effect at US road speeds anyway If you want to do some serious driving with the car, KEEP IT ON!!! If you don't, why would you want an Evo anyway?? I'm not slagging you off, just asking an honest question, cause I'm sure that 99% of Evo drivers (15% in the UK, 5% in Japan) get the car for hardcore driving....

Ok-ok, easy does it folks

Ok-ok, I love the wing-best thing I ever saw! Seriously though, I seem to have hit a touchy subject here. My appologies to anyone whom I have outraged. I appreciate and understand that the "wing" is tradition and all but personally I'm not too keen on the looks of it-a little to ostentatious for me. I prefer a "sleeper" look-a wolf in sheeps clothing. I prefer not to advertise to police or other drivers that I am driving a hot rod. I understand that many of you enjoy the wing but looks, especially re cars, are very subjective. If you like the wing, no problem, fine enjoy it, but must I?

Most-not all-wings these days are tacked on to garner attention or give that aggressive racer look that young men seem to enjoy. These are usually marketing ploys. If this wing actually aids in the aerodynamics of the car, that would seem more honest and I would be less pressed to remove it.

Please understand that merely because the wing doesn't do it for me, doesn't mean that I will not drive the car agressively as you put it(how many negatives was that?). I fully intend to drive this car with appropriate vigor (much to insurance company's chagrin) as I have done with any car I have owned.

Sorry, I did not mean to be a heretic.
Great car and great forum.

I am so incredibly antispoiler, you won't believe it. However, as long as it is functional than I would keep it on.

I too have thoughts of loosing the wing.
Maybe put a carbon deck lid on it instead.
You know every econo Lancer owned by a high schooler is gonna have a wing.
Plus the wife is going to be the main driver of the car and she is gonna get real mad at me if every boyracer in a winged civic starts revvin her at every stop light.

From: houston tx,
who cares if little riceboys rev at her at stoplights. If it annoys her tell her not to drive the car. The wing is there FOR A REASON! Its not a cosmetic wing!
