need help brainstorming for mods

ok well im getting an evo. not for a while though....but i will use that advantage to learn all about the upgrades and make a wise decision on what i choose. my current car is Naturally Aspirated and i have no experience with forced induction yet. i duno how the heck to mod it. sofare heres what im thinking as a newb. ok so i just got my evo for arguemnt sake, now heres a few things im thinking:
-evc boost controller (duno good brands so if theres better, please reccommend)
-hks turbo timer
-SAFC-2....(i have it on my current car and ill just use it on this, so i guess thats my first mod for my evo lol)
-new exhaust (ok and i got a question about exhaust upgrades...im used to just upgrading intake/headers/and exhaust which i did on my tiburon, which obviously isnt turbo. i know on an evo and other T/C cars are different. what could i upgrade? i know theres something like manifolds that look like my headers. downpipes? cold air intake? and will the cold air intake be the same as the other intake sticking out of the turbo? sorry for the extremly newbish questions but i have no experience with forced induction)
-new intake...Cold air or short ram?

-help me out...what are some other good mods you can reccommend?

TBE with a HFC or test pipe
Boost control (electonic or Manual)
AFC
if i could do it all over again i would have stuck with the stock intake and spent the money on a wideband A/F / dataloger so i could see what is going on with my car.... this is what i'm getting next PLX
either the R-500 or the M-500

the evo down the street from me is makeing over 300whp stock intake, full turbo back (test pipe), MBC, and a AFC

cams are a very good mod as well

Buying and using an electronic boost controller before hooking up a boost guage would be the fastest way to blow your engine and they would not cover it especially if they found out that fact. Using a boost guage even with a mod friendly dealer is not optional!

As for parts it really helps to visit a bunch of online vendors and get a feel for the standard packages they sell as stages. For the most part these will be what you should aim to get so that you can get your feet wet without changing too much at once and previous upgrades prepare you for the next stage. Check out www.buschurracing.com as they have proven power stages for the Evo. Also set some money aside for an upgraded clutch as the stocker won't last long if you aren't carefull with it.

This is really really really stupid mentality. You are going to **** your **** up if you mod for power without thinking of your safety. You need a boost gauge to tune and accurately monitor your car. Don't be a typical dip**** evo owner and go straight for power, you need a few basic components, and GOOD gauges (Read: Electronic Peak/Hold/Warning by Greddy/apexi/blitz/hks) are an essential.

Also, hold on to your SAFC-II and get a wiring harness. It will come in handy for an intake and stuff.

ye man i understand, i just meant that that would be nice if i didnt need all the gauges and i can focus on ho. anyway, besides a boost gauge what are some other essential gauges i need. when you said "(Read: Electronic Peak/Hold/Warning by Greddy/apexi/blitz/hks) are an essential." i dont understand what your saying...like i know those are great brands but what products from them should i use to moniter my mods? and what will i be using my SAFC-2 for specificly....just air/fuel ratio's? since i had a shop program and tune it, im not sure how to work it. all i know is that it has many display functions....can those compensate for any guages or should i just buy all the required guages?

sofare here are my mod ideas for electonics and monitering:
1. boost guage
2. boost controller
3. SAFC-2
4.
5. WHAT ELSE SHOULD I BUY?
6.
etc.

-man i hate being a newb

a good start for somebody coming from N/A would be to read the DSM.ORG mods pages and info pages.

And of course if you goto the tech pages of buschurracing.com you will see a nice upgrade path that should give you a good idea.
