Any downsides to running a mini-battery?

Hey all,

i've been looking into getting an Upper IC pipe, however i'd prefer to go with a mini-battery kit, but i'm curious to know whats the disadvantages or cons of getting a mini-battery?

I plan on getting a light system in the near future, i don't want to have any problems.

Can anybody give me the cons of a mini-battery?

thanks!

if you're out in the cold, some people seem to be having cold-cranking problems.

for me, the only problem i run into is that if you take the car out for a bunch of short trips, without a long trip in the middle of it all, you're not charging the battery long enough, and sometimes it makes this really loud "boink" noise, all the lights dim for a second, and then it starts the car up

that and you'll have problems with running your radio without the engine on. You'll die real quick.

better just relocate your battery to the trunk..

anyways if you get a small battery kit, forget about putting subs in the trunk. also a lot of the smaller batteries have trouble producing the same CCA (cold-cranking amps) for more than very short periods of time as regular sized batteries so if your car doesnt start up right away then your battery is going to fade fast simply because it doesn't have as big of a "resevoir" of juice

and by light system do you mean like underbody glow or interior lighting? you shouldn't have a problem with running them while the car is on, but combine it with a few other things and you could run into some trouble

the CONs of a smaller battery is that you're stuck with a large size stock one.

That makes absolutely no sense at all

I already have 4gage wire running from the battery to my trunk for my amp and subs..
I was woundering if I could just use that, and do I just ground the battery to the chassis of the car?
Then I would just connect the amps directly to the battery..

Do you think this will work... all I would have to buy is a battery box to keep it from rolling around!

you could get the racing battery for the engine bay and get a dry cell for the trunk.. dry cells dont need to have ventalation and youll move the weight distrubion towards the rear
