Laser Emitting Evo
Does it happen only when you are in traffic? If it does there are certain cars that have tail lights that emit light at a frequency that is close to trafic laser and will set a detector off. The Chevy Trailblazer and the Lexus suv (LX430?, the big one) will cause laser detectors to go off if they are in front of you at the right angle when they hit their brakes.
My guess its some sort of voltage noise in the power source. I don't see how a turbo spooling would have anything to do with a light emission at a certain frequency. Light is not a sound.
So I would venture to say its the power source......or a flaw in the design of the radar detector. I have a Valentine One and have had no problem at all.

Thats funny because last summer there was a two week span were my laser signal would go off in my passport. It would go on every time i sped back up to speed. I thought maybe a cop was following me at first. Which was strange because they don't even use laser in Pa. Then it started happening like i said for about 2 week every time i was on the hwy. Maybe there is some sorta flash we can get to fix it. The 8500 is suppose to be upgradable.
It will happen off and on, sometimes it will go away for a few days. It even happend on mine when it was stock. it seems to do it less when mounted all the way to the left drivers side of the windshield. there could be a single from the drive by wire on the gas pedel. Any one talk to passport?
I get laser falsing with the 8500 as well. I've read that some Lexus and other cars emit laser signals that'll make the laser detectors go off, but I don't know for sure. It's interesting to hear about a correlation between spool up and laser falsing.... Anyway, I got the Bel 65-X and it falses on the POP warning about the same way the 8500 did with the laser warnings. Maybe I should give that old V1 dinosaur a try again.....
