I had an 02 Z06. The evo is a much easier car to drive fast. With the Z it was easy to fishtail, or spinout. The evo performs almost as well, but with the bad roads where I live, the all wheel drive is very advantageous. I could never get a good launch with my Z, the roads have so much gravel and cracks, it just wouldn't hook up.

They are different beasts, I miss the luxury of the z the most. It was a killer on highways, although I just cammed the evo, so that should help.

I came from a 95 Z28. I pretty much went from one end of the spectrum to the other
RWD NA V8 AT coupe
to
AWD turbo I4 MT sedan

I love the evo and couldn't imagine going back to a 'drag' car. It just seems so boring now. Although I imagine some of that is because it was an auto, but I still feel like I made the right choice on the evo over an 02 TA or something similar.

I owned a 2002 Camaro SS that made 380whp/370wtq with two mods without nitrous. This car was so fun to drive. Now that I've owned the Evo for almost a year now, I really miss my SS. The tranny was smoother, the interior was better(IMO), it was much more fun to drive and it looked better(IMO). Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the practicality of my Evo and the quickness of it in near stock form but I really miss my SS.

those are only v8's that I would get, if I had the money. So far, overall points winner is still the evo.

Unless I decide to get a used trans am ws6 and twin turbocharge that bad boy and put a LSD and detroit locker on it.

It'll kill almost most evo's out there for sure, for less money than new evo.

Then I'll skinned the interior out, get some racing steering wheel, roll cage, and drag slicks.

Then I'll n20 the hell out it, direct port with alky injector. Then I'll do the engine internal upgrade so I could push 40 psi.

Then I'll go race that AMS Evo. Then I'll blow it up with 500 shot of Nitrous at the drag track, while doing 5 second 1/4 at 200+mph.

Then I'll start all over again.

I agree, E55 AMG is one fun car. I saw an older gentleman running 11.9 at the drag strip in his 2002 AMG. I love that car. I'm from a family of big muscle cars 442's, blown 350's, my first car was a built 55 Chevy 350/350/410. They are all fun, but had no kind of handling. I still go to all the old muscle car shows and enjoy seeing them restored, but they are heavy cars, rare parts, old technology. I hope Chrysler can make a come back they are marketing some nice products the Charger RT, hell I like the Magnum I can see a superchager strapped to the wagon and having fun. In all still not the same feeling of hammering down on the Evo in the twisties or from a stop. Maybe when my back is going out, and I'm to messed up to crawl in the Evo, I give it to my son and get me slow ride.

I had a V8 before my EVO... It was Land Rover Discovery Not to fast but it would pull a house off of it's foundation

i also disagree with the gas mileage... i average 17-18 mpg in my C6 with lots of "spirited" driving.

25MPG here and I beat C6's, well stock ones so far

i disagree with this... especially in the evo where teh compartment is so cramped with the turbo parts. in general domestic parts can be really cheap, and its a whole lot less bolts and electronics. as far as maintenance its not any better maintenance needs are the same. and engine reliability goes as far as too much hp in any car is bad for it and will cut down engine life.

i still have my mustang. although it would be easy to make it fast stock for stock it isnt even a comparison. and its by far not as fun to drive. traction issues especially in the rain can get scary if ur not used to the power, and my mustang is slower than my evo and its still a problem.

So do we if not then more. I can burn a tank in 120MILES, that is my record for about 12.5 gallons. I also did about 350 on 11.5 gallons, which equals a lil over 30. Not hard at all.

I love 4's and 8's, but if it wasn't an EVO it would be a buick Grand National. That's a modern muscle car and has my favorite component, TURBO!
