Grand National are sweet, hard to find in good condition though. The sleeper car of the 80's.

I was considering one due to the origin... I have always loved muscle cars of the late 60's and early early 70's. I used to think back at the generation that is ours now and those were the cars they drove, it almost seems like a tradition... there were no AWD turbo charged EVO like cars back then, it was plain and simple N/A big block HP... no boost to worry about, no guages to monitor, just simplicity... *****, they may be heavy but meh I dunno what do you guys think? V8 or EVO?
i have come from driving a high HP RWD american muscle car, namely a 2001 LS1 6 speed Camaro SS. I am confident when i say that the car was definately faster than my stock 2003 EVO. the instant torque rush is something EVO's and STi's can never mimick, and the nothing can top the sound....

Have you ever heard the phrase?: There is no replacement for displacement. Cubic inches rule. Hair dryers are for kids. I'm kidding. But, really . . . . .

It all comes down to what you are trying to accomplish whether it's handling, COMFORTABLE high speed highway driving, cruising, drag racing, 4 to dinner, etc. No one car, less than the top line Mercedes AMG stuff, can do it all.

word brother, i really miss my SS, that car, bottom line was the most badass car ive ever had.... it hauled like a raped ape on the highway, immense topend breathability, and all i had on it was a SLP lid, SFC, !CAGS.... the sixth speed was great for highway cruising, and it would give me 28mpg on my trips back and forth to chicago...

mine was navy blue metallic with chrome ten spokes, heres a pic:

My CLK55 is a beast above 100 mph. It really pulls harder than my EVO Vishnu stage 1+. The gearing on the EVO is shorter while most AMGs are autobahn monsters. My CLK55 never stops pulling until I hit almost 160 mph (due to an 18 inch wheel) in highway 5 last year. When it hits there, it seems like somebody hit the brakes (due to limiter). Without the limiter I think it will go 180 mph.

This is so true. If I could afford it I would get an M5 or E55 instead of an Evo. The truth is, all affordable performance cars have a flaw. Something has to be given up. I remember when I was a kid I used to love Corvettes and it's little brother, but I didn't realize that the nose of the Camaro was that much of a disadvantage.

I have a 95 Z28 (LT1) car, and power wise it is similar too my 05 Evo. The Evo is quicker at lower speeds, handles better, and has way better brakes. A lot has happened in 10 years. The Camaro is mostly my track car now (modded for road course use).

However, my 01 Z06 is faster then the Evo, it weights over a hundred pounds less and has 100 more hp so it's no mystery, although I have to drive the Corvette pretty damn hard to see the difference.

I've never been a big fan of 60's muscle cars as the handling and braking is generally horrible.

Before the Evo I had a 91 Z-28 mine mods chip filters, catback. The car wasn't bad on power. I used to think it was fast till I got my EVO lol. No regrets at all about the switch. Infact I went from having the Z-28, 92 S-10 Blazer, and a 99 Grandprix GT. Needed all 3 just to cover the different seasons now the evo does it all.

I love all cars, I didn't step down(or up) from a V-8, I still have a Saleen Mustang and it's a blast to drive. Nothing like the sound and feel of a stout V-8. Love the Evo just as much, maybe just a tinney bit more!

i actually wanted a camero ss z28 for a while. I still think camero's were a better cars then mustangs.

it's the popularity contest that killed the cameros... I think.

I love muscle cars. It wasn't the V8 vs I4 battle for me. Up here in the snowbelt, it was the RWD vs AWD battle the EVO won for me.

I have always had v8's before the EVO. I still own my 92 GT Mustang currently has 169,000 on the original engine, only lightly moded. Nevertheless, I enjoy the speed of cars and must be at a low cost over all. So the v8's did the trick for many years. I really could not afford a high horsepower import until the EVO. I have to say the Mustang is fun to drive but the EVO is major fun in other ways. If I had to choose it would be the EVO. But then I have not driven the latest Mustangs or others. Going fast in a straight line is fun, but doing it sideways is incredible. Over all I love all cars as long as they are fun to drive.
