Question Anyone have the skinny on the "pit pass"

Does anyone know exactly what the "Pit Pass" maintenance contract is?

Does anyone know what it will include? Is it just an oil change schedule, or is it a more comprehensive contract that includes the cost of all scheduled maintenance? Does it cover the costs of both parts and labor?

How much will it cost us?

thx...

I would also like to know what the pit pass includes. Has given me nothing so far, when I go to buy my car I am going to ask for the guage cluster and the pitpass for free. Hopfully they will hook me up with somthing or I may take my cash somewhere else. If anyone knows or can find about about the pit pass it would help.

The "Pit Pass" is a pre-paid maintenance contract specific to the Evo. You will be able to buy either 7 or 9 services using either of the 2 recommended maintenance schedules. Each service includes a 27-point inspection (including oil change and tire rotation) performed by an Evo certified technician. Cost is TBD.

I actually just started a separate thread about this which will include pictures of the brochure on Pit Pass if someone can host them for me.

Yeah, Mark. If you can get that info up, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure this is a good extra for the sales people to add into the purchase. And if we go in to the dealership not knowing what this is, we won't know if it's a product worth adding to the purchase price.

So if each contains an oil change ($20) and a tire rotation ($50), then I would be willing to be the pass will cost at least $500 for the 7 services....and at least $700 for the 9 services pass.

Damn.....I'll rotate your tires for $50. I get pissed if they charge me $20 for my Jeep (too tall for my normal jacks, so i have to pay).

You can always go to NTB and get a free rotation... of course they will most likely crush your rocker panels, and snap off a few studs, but hey....its free.

huhu...$50. That was the going rate for tire rotation from the Acura Dealer near me, when I lived in PA. They would inspect my car, come out and tell me that my tires needed rotation (which they didn't because I rotated em every 2500 miles or so), and that they would do it for $50. I would refuse the service. And when I got my car back, the tires were always rotated anyway. huhu.

As Megabusa well knows, in PA at inspection time, the inspectors are required to remove all 4 wheels to check brake pad thickness. My Acura dealer would just put all 4 wheels back on like they did a rotation....then they try to charge you for the additional service....eventhough there was no additional effort needed to complete the task.

Shoot if people are interested, i'll do rotations for $50. I'll even torque it down with my snap on torque wrench .

$20 for oil change? That is cheap especially that synthic oil cost $4 per quart and who knows how much for the oil filter? Or is that just labor cost

I was going to say $20 for an oil change is way too low. Expect to pay between $50-60 dollars for an oil change on this car. IF you don't supply your own oil. You pick up Mobil 1 tri-syn oil for about $30-35 depending on how many qrts are needed. Then labor should be under $10. I used to put tri-synthetic in my Supra and I spent around $38 for 6 qrts after tax w/filter. It runs about $4.00 - $4.40 or so a bottle.

From looking at the maintenance info on this car from a previous post by Mark F upkeep won't be cheap on this car. So I hope you're all ready to pay to play in this car.

Dam, Mobil 1 is about $5 by me! So i am expecting to spend around 30-35 to do an oil change! Which by the way i will most likely do myself. Ive always done my own anyway! Unless i get this pit pass crap, then i guess ill just let them do it.

I wouldn't mind dropping xtra cash for a pitpass, if this works at any mitsui dealer. it would suck if it only works at the one you buy the evo at cause i am buying one 50 miles away. ... oh well.. we will see.

I think it's probably a typo. ($50) oil change and ($20) rotate tires. Still steep for something so simple to do.

This will be a "Pre-Paid" type of maintenance plan...

If it would cost less to pay for the services up front, instead of over the period of time, I would say it would be worth it to buy the pit pass...

Since this car will require more servicing, and money saved would be a good thing..

i went to the evo meeting today, theyre also saying that aside from pitpass, not having proof of oil changes every 5k with mobil 1 synthetic may void warranty
