fan coming on right after startup

I just got my 2003 EVO the other day and although I have not had much time to spend with it I did notice several times that the rad fan is coming on right after you start it then will cycle on/off a few times. This is after the car has been sitting forever so...it is *not* hot....the fan should not be coming on.

My VIN shows one recall still needing to be done and it might be the fan one however I cannot find any symptoms as to what the bad control would cause short of the fan staying on and killing batteries.

I tried searching to no avail....

Thanks for any thoughts :-)

Is your defroster or a/c on by chance?

And yeah you should get that fan recall done but I doubt it's related to this unless the above is false.

Thanks

Interesting. Well the fan control module thing might help you out, get it done and report back. My dealer did it in about 20 mins.

Fan will circulate on/off as the thermostat dictates, but that's not normal when the car is cold started.

the fan is suppose to turn on and off when warming up, mine never did it until I got the recall done. Now that damn thing goes on and off constantly but I guess thats what its suppose to do.

I checked yesterday and defrost was actually selected (not the rear defrost but the windshield) so I lied earlier <sorry>. Can I assume the EVO kicks on the AC compressor whenever the defrost is selected?
