All of the VINs given so far do check out (ie they are valid Evo VINs, not made up ones). If they haven't been processed yet, they won't be in any systems, and who knows how often Carfax gets updates. They have no need to be bang up-to-date with brand new cars anyway, their market is used car buyers.

Anyway, for you detail freaks, a VIN deconstruction:
J - Country (of manufacture): Japan
A - Make: MMC or MMMA (as opposed to MMAL, the Australian Mitsu)
3 - Vehicle type: Passenger car (MMC, MMMA)
A - Other info: Driver & passenger airbags
H8 - Model: Lancer Evolution (yeah!)
6 - Type: 4dr sedan
F - Engine: 2.0L DOHC Turbo (4G63)
7 - Check digit (calculated from rest of VIN)
3 - Model year: 2003
U - Assembly plant: Mizushima (J = Nagoya)
042104 - Plant sequence number (Canadian vehicles begin with 6)

What I find odd is that of the three VINs posted so far, sequence numbers range from 042104 to 091874. So I guess there must be some other significance to the sequence numbers also (I doubt they've made 50,000 Evo VIIIs yet
i wonder if this is going to be considered a 4dr sedan to insurance companies, or a sports car.. won't change the matter in buying it just hopefully they will fall for 4dr sedan, family car..

It is my recollection that ANY car with 4 doors is categorized as a sedan for titling/registration/insurance reasons..

SC~who's 87.7% sure...

here in quebec it's not because it's a 4 door sedan that it's cheaper for insurance!

it's according to the price, power, data of the model 9in evo's case there isn't any), region, age, past accidents, whatever. If the exact same car is made 2drs and 4 drs then the 4 drs will be a little cheaper, but really not enough for you to decide the get a 4 door for that.. a 4 door is so useful compared to a 2 door!

And here for registration there is no "sport car" category.. it's 2 doors, 3 doors, 4 doors, 5 doors, etc
