Race..at the strip..Camaro vs MyEvo
I have a 95 Z28 (LT1) and an 05 Evo. The Z28 is set up for road racing and I pretty much use it as a track car only (roll bar, race seat etc). In stock form, I'd bet on the Evo in a drag race or on a road course - the Evo has way better brakes. Nothing too surprising about that since the Evo is a whopping 10 years newer. And that '4-banger' does have a turbo.
FWIW, Evos and Z28s (the LS1 cars) are both in SCCA T2 class. Evos used to be in T1 with Z06s but just were not competitive so they were re-classisfied down to T2.

Be sure to remove all the weight you can. Practice your launches and your shifting, and be sure to run the highest octane racing gasoline you can because it will help to prevent knocking and the dreaded timing pull.... Do this particularly if you run a MBC or some other kind of boost control. Oh yeah, a full 3" exhaust and a flash should help too, although I don't care for reflashes for other reasons.... You might beat the crap out of that car if your EVO is one of the fast ones...... Good luck and don't race for money....
a bone stock LT1 (camaros before '98) ran 13.8-14.4 bone stock....most evos their first time at the track run low 14's and sometimes high 13's also........if he has slicks, my money would be on the LT1 if he knew how to drive
if you (evo owner), have experience at the track, you should pull mid to low 13's also
