Mitsubishi halts 2006 Eclipse sales

http://www.autoblog.com/entry/1234000040044633/

So much for the new eclipse bringing Mitsu back to glory. All I got to say is that thank goodness they shipped the EVOs before they close. I dont know whether to pity them or be happy because of their crappy customer service.

so what, better now than a year later getting people even more bent. These guys are sooo quality/recall/fubar conscious that this does not surprise me at all. They have to make sure the quality is top-notch. I drove one yesterday and dude the thing freakin scoots with no torque steer. Anyway...bla blah, they are not closing,...blah blah.

They caught the problem early and are fixing it before too many get out. This happens all the time to cars. The ones that do get out will probably have a recall or get fixed before delivery. Personally the car doesn't interest me. As a former GSX owner the Eclipse will never interest me till turbos and AWD make a return. Put the EVO motor and drivetrain in it and then I'll take a look at it.

Lets hope that they will honor their warranty claims better than they do with the Evos.

Oh just relax. It's a minor issue that only has happened in a couple cars, causing them to loose their POWER brakes, not their brakes all together.

It's just erroring on the side of caution, rather than just hoping it isn't an issue.

And ontop of it all, the part causing the problem, IS NOT A MITSUBISHI PART, it is a vaccum booster for the master cylinder, provided by some supplier!

It doesnt matter if it was their part or not, it is on their car, hence their responsibility.

Mitsu quality sucks guys...its just a proven fact. It will take years to turn that around.

we just got 7 more 06 eclipses off the truck a hour ago and they already have the problem taken care of . I have a total of 8 or 9 cars here only two are getting the recall that is needed as the others are fixed and ready to go.

Well Mistubishi has shot themselves in the foot so much it's easy for people to not trust them and give them a hard time. If they get their act together they will pull through. Remember what Audi went through in the 80's?

I completely agree! Changing the target market for the Eclipse in 2000 was not a good move … from an enthusiast's standpoint.

wow... they're already at dealers here. I guess they'll be pulling them off and recalling...
