Downpayment Amount?

Here a quick tip when financing a car. Try to look for a loan ahead of time with the lowest interest rate, and get prequalified for it. When you get the loan, get the longest term possible at the interest rate they quote you. That will lower your required monthly payment. However, if you pay more than the required monthly payment each month, you will have more of your money going toward the principle rather than interest and you will pay less in the long run. So if you can afford $500 a month, try to get a 60 month loan at $250 a month but pay the $500 per month anyway. You will pay off the car quicker and pay less money then if had gotten a 36 month loan at the same interest rate.

I'm looking into buyign an Evo. May not be for a few years but I wanted to see how much people put down and what there payments are.
My goal is to have $10,000 downpayment plus my trade-in('03 Lancer ES) unless I sell on side.
How much you put down and your payments. Thanks

bargained to $150 below invoice, + $600 GAP + $1500 special theft reimbursement (i get up to $25K for a new car if Evo gets stolen) the latter was the only way to get 3.84% APR for 72 months (wanted to be on the safe side). $3000 down, no trade (<3 my teg
) monthly = $560, but i'm actually paying $760/month, so i'll save $1500 in the end.
