So let me get this straight. These folks could go to a track and do their thing in a safe, controlled environment. However, they'd rather risk life and limb (of themselves and others) by being reckless on a public road. So is that where the better-than-sex thrill comes from, doing it illegally? I don't get it.

I don't know about you guy's/gals, but I don't like any bad publicity showing my car (one like mine that is ) on the front page of a major newspaper. This is exactly why I get harassed by police here in Florida. These street racers need to take it to the track in a safe environment and stop giving the people like me and others a bad rep because we drive sport compact cars or muscle cars. Just my 2 cents.

Derek

P.S. Mangook This was a good find. I just hope it makes people here think twice about street racing. But I feel it just might make the (Street Racers ) who read it think that it will be more exciting knowing that the Cops could be right around the corner.

Ok, a few funny things while reading the article... "Civic SVT" and the fact that everyone there meets at a KRISPY KREME and a DUNKIN DONUTS...the sterotypical cop hang outs..haha.

Hell, the fines are stiff wherever you go nowadays..here in Kansas City area...the fine is $1500, a few nights in jail and confescation of your car and license for 30-90 days (all these being worst case scenario)...not to mention court time, lawyer fees and a nasty driving record for a LONG time! It's just not worth it to me.

I like cars and all that sh*t. I had to laugh at the guy that said he would choose street racing over dipping the wick. Sorry, but booty call has to be higher on the list. Priorities people!

100% agree with you on that one!

They need to build more drag strips if they want this situation to ever improve.

The local track here in Indiana is only open to street cars on Tuesday nights.... like I don't have to go to work on Wednesday? They have the track closed on weekends. <sigh>

When I lived in Hawaii, the track was close, cheap, and available.

building more drag strips will only put a dent in the activity of street racing...besides...after you leave the track...u want to race even more ...a dent is better than nothing though
