Just installed my RMR Dp, a question...

hey i just installed my RMR downpipe completing my custom turboback setup. But a question, the 2nd lower bar clears, but the front one def wont clear so i used up to EIGHT washers on each bolt (16 total) and it STILL doesnt clear and the bolt isnt long enough, how many washers am i supposed to use? I def do feel a diff, i feel a gain of torque when im at WOT, i can feel myself being pulled back into my seat harder than before. My car doesnt sound as deep as before tho, just sounds more gutted like a motorcycle or something. Pretty sweet still tho.

Just to back track.... have you made sure the dp is flush with the engine? Did you remove the donut the stock one uses? This happened to me when I installed my UR downpipe, and I felt stupid after realizing that. After that the dp fit with no problems.

Yeah dont take the donut gasket off. I just installed my TurboXS downpipe. And I tried removing the donut gasket. Not a good idea. Car becomes loud and annoying and a leak is quickly apparent. However for me the gasket had trouble filling the downpipe so I still had a small leak. I put some liquid gasket around my donut gasket to actually fill the leak. Now it sounds alot better.

how did the car sound with the leak? Only sound i hear that seems to be "wrong" is this flutter noise like a piece of paper is in my exhaust which could only be the 3in gasket which is not properly position to my guessing. I will take a look at that today. My car just sounds "gutted" like a motorcycle without a muffler as i stated above at idle. Its not annoyingly ricey loud or anything. PS: im runnin a HKS Carbon Ti

Take the stock donut(gasket) off. The dp should be flushed to the engine side, O2 housing I believe. Just put some liquid gasket if you are worried about leaks. I've asked several people who installed their dp's and all have said the stock one should come off and replaced with liquid gasket or some kind of gasket. Maybe I wasn't too clear on that.

The stock donut gasket is about 2-3" thick and it will not allow you to use the stock bolts to your new dp. This happened to me. And btw, with the new 3" dp... the car will be LOUDER! If you can't stand that... don't install the dp. It will be much louder with a full 3" catback and even with my HF cat, it's much louder than stock. I had an STi friend who said my car was the loudest car he's been in. Power baby!

they dont fit! dont be stupid like myself and put 15 washers and longer bolts! those bars are crap anyways. i think the legs on my BRBQ r stronger! they serve no purpose stock anyways. spend a little $ and buy an aftermarket 1.

actually they do make a difference....anyways, i am running without the front bar which bolts onto 3 locations but the rear one is intact and i hear it hitting the dp when i go over speedbumps so im gonna add maybe 2 washers on each side and leave it because it fits. What aftermarket underbrace clears 3in downpipes such as the RMR?

I do not think you'll find a fix. You'll need to buy a new lower arm brace. RMR even states on their website it wont clear. or use to. Good luck finding a fix. Mine vibrates on take offs and on hills. I just raise my music. I had put washers on but it makes an even more irritating sound vs the rattling.

Good Luck.

So which aftermarket brace do we need? I also have the RMR 3" downpipe and it will not clear the fron lower brace and I also added 4 washers to the rear lower brace. The stock donut gasket is in use.
