Change out RS shocks & tranny
I am interested in buying a 2004 RS but would prefer the shocks and 6 speed tranny on the MR. Has anyone tried to swap either?
The shocks on a RS are very firm for a family car. The 6 speed would give me better milage.
I could buy a 2004 MR but just can't afford it. The swaps would occur later when I can.

The 6 speed tranny would give you better mileage if most of your driving is offboost expressway "cruising", say 65-75 mph in 6th. As far as I know, the first 5 ratios of the 6 speed MR tranny are very similar to the 5 speed tranny....so I'm not sure it would help all that much in terms of fuel consumption for most other situations. It would be easier (and probably cheaper) to simply exercise some restraint with the gas pedal.
