Correct! i would say..with a mushroom type filter also.. i had my stock one install backward just to **** around once..and this is exactly what i got.

Yep, that's definitely compressor surge. You can get that sound with ANY BOV ... and it is a BAD thing. If you are contemplating buying a turbo car that sounds like that ... don't. Run, don't walk, away from it. A lot of ppl think that it's "kewl" if their car sounds like that, but all they are really accomplishing (other than looking like morons) is beating the living daylights out of their compressor wheel, which will ultimately lead to turbo failure.

To this day I can't believe how many Evos I've seen that make that sound, and how many ppl think it's a good thing.

That's not the BOV. It's the sound of the wastegate. You hear that in race cars and D1 drift cars
